Spent a lovely week staying in Kingston. Very handy bathroom downstairs next to a room we converted into a bedroom, ideal for someone with mobility issues (the stairs would've been too steep). Nice welcome with tea, milk and biscuits, and we were able to arrive the property earlier than originally planned. Would stay again. The only issue was that we couldn't find the remote!

We only had a taster of the delights of Devon and 3 Gabberwell Cottages, squeezing in between two other families' holidays; staying just 2 nights over the 2nd weekend in August.
The break may have been short, but it was fantastic! The cottage is gorgeous and ideally situated; you can either drive to one of the well known beaches, such as Bigbury and take a surfing lesson, wander over to the Pilchard Inn on Burgh island, or walk from the cottage down one of the bridle paths until they meet the coastal path and enjoy the amazing views out to sea and across the patchwork countryside. Some extremely gorgeous sandy coves are only accessible on foot and are truly reflective of the smuggling history of the area. We managed it all during our 3 day action-packed stay, including discovering a fabulous cove near Ringmore. Thanks to Penny & John Hicks, we ate in 2 gorgeous restaurants; The Pickwick Inn and The Oyster Shack. John had thoughtfully emailed us before our stay suggesting places to eat (and encouraged us to book as they both get busy in the Summer months). We also had a couple of hours wandering around Modbury, which has a great high street with surprisingly interesting shops for such a small, but beautiful Georgian town.
All in all, my boys, who are hugh fans of the Norfolk sand dunes, were suitably impressed, not only with the cottage - (all that broadband, BT vision TV stuff is included between two very comfortable sofas!) but with it's position.
We shall definitely be returning!

I stayed here for a weekend with my husband and two friends. It was absolutely perfect. The cottage is so delightful, full of charm, plenty of room - yet snug also. Two bathrooms make it ideal for sharing with friends. From the moment we arrived we settled in and didn't want to leave. The cottage caters for everything. The surrounding area is beautiful with coastlines only a short drive away. The village pub serves food but I would suggest booking a table over a weekend. Our mobile phones didn't work during our stay as there was no signal - however the cottage has a pay phone which we were able to use. I would love to stay here during winter months just so I could sit around the log burning fire on the big comfy settees. We will definitely be returning and would thoroughly recommend the cottage for a peaceful get away break.

Our whole experience of this lovely cottage was perfect except for the weather!
It was a wet cold evening with freezing gales when we arrived, but all thoughts of the storm outside disappeared once we were inside 3 Gabberwell.
It was warm and cosy with the log woodburner in the sitting room casting a golden glow that gave a warm ambience downstairs, and the central heating ensured the rest of the cottage was equally cosy and inviting. There is space enough in this bright and airy cottage to sleep a large family, but equally it is an ideal place for a romantic escape for a couple. It is well equipped with wifi and cable tv.
Outside there is off-road parking for two cars and a gated and enclosed garden area which is ideal for those with young children or dogs.
The village of Kingston, where 3 Gabberwell is located, is delightful and picturesque, with many 'picture postcard' cottages and other pretty properties. The Dolphin pub in the centre of the village offers real ales and great pub grub, and is clearly very popular with friendly local people.
The coastal walks from the cottage and surrounding scenery are simply stunning, but due to the weather during our visit we were unable to explore them fully. However we will definitely be visiting again later in the year, on a kayaking, cycling and walking break.
