“TRANQUILITY”
Reviewed June 11, 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Lovely place, views to die for. Peace & tranquil, a beautiful place. Walks to the beach very close. Kingsbridge the nearest town, very good for supermarkets and other types of shopping.

“Beautifully ap[pointed, misleading prices”

The apartment itself was well appointed, high quality furnishings and kitchen and could not be faulted. Plenty of equipment to keep our grandchildren happy. Beautifully situated on the coastal path and close to lovely clean beaches.

However, as my wife is disabled it was a pity that she was unable to walk the slope from the village centre (shop, pub etc) so we could not fully enjoy the setting.

As apartment owners ourselves we were disappointed by the pricing. The original price quoted of £158.90 on the website was rejected by the owners and we paid £192.90. To then be told, once full payment had been made, that this excluded bed linen and towels, and that we had to make our own beds on arrival was extremely disappointing. I do wonder whether the house has changed owners recently as I cannot see that anyone has previously raised this as a concern.

It would also be helpful if there was a welcome book/guide to the apartment. We easily found the laminated guide to recycling pinned to the wall in the kitchen, but it took us 2 days to find the various coloured recycling bags!

“Fantastic place to stay, warm and cosy and beautiful views”

Perfectly placed to avoid paying the £6. Bantham Beach fees, Walk down throught the cow field, along by the golf course and your there. 15/20 mins tops. Walk the other way and you can pop into the Sloop for a bite to eat, or a 10 minute walk to the village to the shop, pub or Hotel. The accommodation was fine with one twin and one double. Albeit it could have been a little cleaner. Plenty of hotwater and heating if needed and a good range of kitchen equipment.

Had a wonderful short break over the Easter weekend. Apartment is a real home for home, thinking of everything you need. Really clean and welcoming. Amazing views from the gardens and a really nice walk down to the beach. Perfect for exploring this beautiful part of the country.

“Charming appartment in a stunning location”

I know the area well as I used to live in South Devon but it was lovely to come back and I realised how much I have missed the beautiful coastline. The Downs enjoys a perfect location to enjoy coastal walks and enjoy the beautiful sunsets over Burgh Island. The apartment is beautifully decorated and it is a wonderful place to relax and unwind. The owner has thought of everything and the kitchen is well stocked with basics for when you first arrive (really useful as the post office shop in Thurlestone closes at 4pm on Saturday and the nearest supermarkets in Kingsbridge are a drive you won't want to make straight away after travelling on a Saturday in August!). The Snook Inn at Bantham serves some excellent food with a good selection of seafood but you are advised to walk the coastal route and not down the steep incline as we did. There is plenty to do in the area and we had no trouble keeping our 4 year old entertained with the beach, zoo, aquarium and steam train - he was in little boy heaven. All in all a really comfortable home for a beautiful seaside getaway.
