“An absolutely exceptional guesthouse”
Reviewed April 14, 2014

It would be hard to overstate the excellence of this guesthouse which maintains the highest standards throughout with two expert hosts at the helm. Jenni and Stuart are both highly professional, yet warm and welcoming, and this is reflected in an atmosphere of calm serenity throughout. The guestbook in the Snug is full of delighted comments, thank you cards stuck between the pages and evidence of their many, devoted returnees. The house and grounds are beautifully maintained, inside there is an abundance of fresh flowers and absence of plastic everywhere; napkins are real not paper, glassware and crockery are often period pieces which meld with the antiques on display in all of the spotlessly clean rooms. This attention to detail is noted by almost everyone who visits as are the many extra touches, for example, decanters of port on the hospitality tray in the bedrooms. The food is absolutely wonderful - home-made yoghurt, preserves and bread, cooked breakfasts prepared on the spot, scrambled eggs to die for! This guesthouse has set the bar so high it would be difficult to imagine anywhere doing it better.

Without question this is the best B&B I have stayed in anywhere! Uncompromising quality from the booking through to arrival and the whole stay. The hosts Jenni and Stuart are at ease with providing a consummately high level of experience across the B&B board! The old mill has rarely seen better days if ever, and the MIller's Cottage that has been integrated into the mill provides superb quality throughout. From the cosy fire-heated sitting room, a door leads past Stuart's wine cellar up wide stairs to a landing from which the rooms are reached. Ours, the Gardenia Room, with lovely en suite and wonderfully comfortable bed was quiet, tranquil and of exceptional quality. The en-suite shower room was spacious and the towels and other provisions of the highest standard.

Breakfasts are of legendary quality - worth a visit on their own - with high quality provender served with style and calm in a wonderful setting.

Each evening Stuart offered us a glass of wine from his own stock - not a £3.99 selection but extremely quaffable!

Nothing was too much effort - these hosts know how to look after guests, but without any overly interfering involvement in your stay. Simply exceptional.

IF you are looking to be near Kingsbridge, Dartmouth, Beesands, Slapton, and don't mind a short drive to get there, you will struggle to find better value and better accommodation and hosts than at Keynedon Mill.

Would we return - as soon as we have free time!

Room Tip: All rooms of exceptional quality - not all with en suite but with private bathrooms.

We visited Keynedon Mill in October for two nights and would recommend it without hesitation. We were given a warm welcome by Stuart, managing admirably without Jeni, who was away for the weekend. He struck the right balance of being attentive, whilst allowing us the freedom to do our own thing. The decor is tasteful and very well maintained, looking as good as it must have done when it was refurbished a couple of years ago.
Breakfast was well cooked with a nice choice and there were scones and tea available after our walk in the afternoon.
Our choice of a bedroom without an en suite bathroom involved a short walk up the hall for the morning shower. This wasn't a problem as we were the only guests but otherwise would have been a slight inconvenience.
The Mill is in a great location with superb walks, pubs and restaurants within easy reach. The whole enterprise has been undertaken with a lot of thought and attention to detail. Thank you for a great stay.

Room Tip: Choose en suite

All the reviews before ours are so on the button!! There's not too much to add, other than the fact that we had no expectations at all, no recommendations from anyone, just the hope we would love it and we did. Everything was perfect, even down to the little bird that came home with us!! Jeni and Stuart are so good at the welcome game - we felt at home straight away, with tea and scones on arrival, what more could we ask. Sorry to be so late in making this review, my computer skills are rubbish, I needed help. A two day stay is not enough in this very special place. Don't think twice - book it!! Many thanks to the very best hosts in the country.

Room Tip: All seem to be perfect!

We had been recommended to stay here by relatives but even our high expectations were surpassed. The welcome was lovely, we arrived late afternoon and Jeni showed us our room then made us a lovely pot of tea and coffee each with delicious home made cheesecake!

We stayed in the Gardenia room and it was beautiful, clean, spacious and our every need was taken care of right down to an iPod/Iphone charger in the alarm clock radio. Free WiFi, beautiful views, gorgeous comfy beds, the peace and quiet of South Devon country side and the tasteful decor made this a very memorable place to stay. On top of all this the breakfast was scrummy, beautifully cooked with all the usual options available and a choice of cooked dishes so really something for everyone. Our hosts, Jeni and Stuart were relaxed and charming, nothing was too much trouble and again their thoughtful little touches made this mini break outstanding for us. For instance a flask of fresh milk outside our bedroom door when we got back after our first night out. It's really hard to do justice to this beautiful Guest House in words but I would stay here again without question knowing that I can relax and be looked after in style.

A very special place to stay. Our room was superb, the breakfast was five star quality and the surroundings perfect.
Jeni and Stuart are the greatest hosts you could ever wish for and went out of their way to make our stay special.
We hope to return again in the future.
