“Fab food and great views!”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

We popped in over Easter one evening and managed to get an upstairs table overlooking the estuary which was wonderful, having a beer and watching the tide coming in and the sun going down.
I had Charlies fish pie which was really tasty, fresh and huge, one of the best fish pies I have eaten. My family all opted for the pizzas which were all voted as excellent.
enjoy the food and the view and hopefully some sunshine!

“Great meal!”
Reviewed April 6, 2013 via mobile

Popped in as spotted it when driving past! As I am moving to the area. Both my mum and I were so glad we went in! Only wanted a small and quick late lunch. Was great, quick, tasty, good value for money, and the portion sizes were great! Especially for a lunch, we had sandwiches and a starter size of mussels. They are undergoing some building work, think they are expanding, which will be great. Views over the water are superb, even better on a nice warm day outside.

Overall great lunch, will be back again soon!

“Overpriced rip off.& poor food”
Reviewed April 6, 2013

Considering the big hype of this place, we were very disappointed that the food did not live up to how it was described on the Menu. The Fish & Chips consisted of a tiny piece of fish laid on a bed of about 20 giant sticks of fat potatoes,at a cost in excess of £11. (local chippy is better at i/3 of the price). The Scallops, you expect to be a decent sized Scallops for a main course, but no you get about 6 tiny queen Scallops the size of your thumb nail in a shell on salad leaves, wont tell you what they cost.
I would never recommend this restaurant.
To sum up, a rip off for poor quality food.
There are a lot better value Seafood restaurants within a short drive, (try the Oyster Shack)

“Distinctly average”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

We visited the Crabshell a couple of years ago before it changed hands - it was welcoming and the food was good. We were really disappointed when we visited this week though as the service was poor and the food was mediocre. Shan't be going back any time soon!

“Out of this world !”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

Went to the Crabshell over the Bank Holiday during the early evening and ordered a few drinks at the bar for my family. While standing at the packed bar, a chef walked up to me wearing his all white outfit with a pizza board in hand and several slices of pizzas on top. He offered up some sample slices to customers as they waited. I took a slice and was sold from there. I asked for a table to accommodate the 6 of us and was seated upstairs in the restaurant. We all ordered various pizzas and were able to watch them cook them right in front of our eyes. They were fantastic. ! The chef explained how they made the dough just prior service. You can obviously tell they know what they are doing. If your looking for a pizza this is the place. You would t think it coming from regular pub/restaurant.
