A couple of little things prevents me from giving this a 5/5 rating, unfortuantely. Those little things did not ruin our fantastic holiday we have just had in this most gorgeous part of the country. I will get them out of the way here, and then move on to the many positives.
The little things fall into the category of 'cleanliness' - a dead spider in the towel, a bathroom bin full of rubbish, things were a bit dusty too, and a casserole pot in the kitchen cupboard that had clearly been used as an ashtray (not the cottage owners fault, I know).
Now that is over with, here is why I loved this place:
1. New, clean kitchens
2. Well-equipped, clean, new-ish bathrooms
3. Clean, comfy beds
4. Free wi-fi (although it was a bit touch-and-go)
5. Swimming pool
6. In the middle of the countryside, with amazing views
7. It's quiet
8. My little dog was welcome, and he loved it
9. Proximity to several beaches
10. 7 days of blue skies and sunshine!

We booked cottage 1 which was great. However, due to events beyond control we spent the last two nights in The Loft with its amazing sea view.
There is a fair bit of building work going on in some of the cottages. We did not find it disturbing and I consider it positive as it shows that money is being invested here. All cottages will have brand new kitchens and bathrooms soon, by the looks of it.
Val, the caretaker was a star - very helpful.

Things we did:
1. Babbacombe model village - a fair way to go but worth it, and it is easy to spend several hours there.
2. Walk around Start Point
3. Walk from Thurlestone to Bantham - superb coastal walk
4. Walk from the cottage to Hope Cove across the fields - a lovely walk. Unfortunately the coastal path is currently closed between Hope Cove and Thurlestone so we couldn't do what we had planned. It is easily possible to walk to Thurlestone beach from the cottage.
5. Visited Salcombe (very nice), Kingsbridge (ok) and Dartmouth (nice).
6. Visited loads of dog-friendly beaches

Eateries we tried:
1. The Cod Father in Kingsbridge - yuck!
2. Britannia @ the Beach - yummy and lovely atmosphere.
3. Winking Prawn - yummy buffet breakfast.
4. Church House Inn at Stokenham - yummy yummy and lovely atmosphere

This was just a short break with family and dogs and we were the only people there in this double courtyard of about 14-15 cottages. There were spectacular views down to the coast when the mist eventually lifted (it was mid-March). The cottage had everything you needed with large comfortable sofas, big bedrooms and a well-equipped kitchen. The original development has retained a lot of character from these former agricultural buildings. There are also lots of lawns all around for children to run around, a tennis court, indoor/outdoor swimming pools and a separate fenced-off dog-walking area. The nearest beach at South Milton Sands is 5 minutes by car with a very good cafe run by a Polish chef. The Co-op shop at the garage at Malborough has most things you need. It's also not far to the delightful small town of Kingsbridge or the yachty Salcombe.

I was recommended to Toad Hall Cottages by a work colleague and when I needed to find a location for my boyfriends 30th birthday with friends, through this company, I managed to find 4 cottages next to each other at a ridiculously cheap rate and considerably cheaper than the hotel.

Set in the middle of the Devonshire countryside with sea and countryside views, we managed to find (our friends werent as successful as sat nav doesnt work that well), our pretty cottages. Each of the cottages is decorated in a similar style but at the same time each one is very individual. They were fully equipped with everything you need as well as dvd and cd players as an added luxury. We stayed in The Loft, which was very spacious and ideal as the main cottage for everyone to gather, due to the space and contemporary feel.

We spent all week there and wish we had longer as there is so much to see, do and eat!!!

Closest beach is South Milton Sands. My favourite beach was Blackpool Sands which is in a little cove and has the coolest beach cafe. For dinner, we went to:

The Winking Prawn - brilliant food, amazing atmosphere, really good fun (lots of people end up dancing and dressing up (there is a fancy dress box in the restaurant). I couldnt have chosen a better restaurant for a big group. Worth driving down in the daytime as set on North Sands beach which is really pretty.

Port Light Hotel - dated but good hearty food, reasonably priced. Everyone seemed to have their dog with them in there.

The rest of the evenings we ate in as kitchens fully equipped.

For lunch we went to:

The Sloop Inn - Bantham - great food!
The Millbrook Inn - Millbrook - the best ever crab sandwiches with little stream in garden
The Kings Arms - Salcombe - again, brilliant food!

This is such a pretty part of the country with alot of the towns such as Salcombe set along the estuary. We all totally fell in love with it and were sad to leave
