Although having a house in Devon we have never visited Tapeley Park, until today. Prior to visit we sought information and read these reviews, a mixed bag, we thought, pos and neg, so decided to make an effort and make our own minds up. Although very windy, with threats of showers we were fortunate the sun tried very hard to show itself and at least it stayed dry for our visit.
Must say we found signage adequate on the roads, parking good, superb views. Ticket office reception very pleasant and welcoming, we purchased the guide book for a map and information, admission fee reasonable.
The gardens are a delight , would love to see the flowers showing full beauty, the kitchen garden, lake, labyrinth and monument, woodland walk, and most of all permaculture garden our favourite. Toilets are clean and adequate, though a little tired. Tea room very pleasant service, tasty food and drinks. On the whole we liked it , the only negative house not open but then expected that from other reviewers, and it does say Tapeley Park Gardens !

My best friend and I visited tape ley today and what a hidden gem! Despite living in north Devon for years neither of us had ever visited!

We were lucky with a beautiful day weather wise which probably helped too. Very very peaceful lots of acres to explore. Particularly lovely down by the lake and up at the monument- very special.

Cafe was very well priced with gorgeous home made cakes, served on the beautiful tea garden lawn.

Free range eggs for sale too!

Only complaint was filthy water in the bath for the ducks- that wouldn't take long to change every few days?

We were thrilled with the season ticket value- as many visits as we like for a few pounds extra! Brilliant!

Hi, Brown sign on road shows counrty house, but having paid was advised that house not open and owner will only bother if 30 or more guest want to view.
The owner is something of a rebel and protests about almost everything imaginable.
He is so up his ownself that he has a room full of media coverage of his past pressure group protests.
Think he is a priviledged but angry man,who does,nt appreciate the advantages he was born with.
The gardens are nice but not better that other stately homes.
But it,s the misrepresentation of the road brown signs that got me because they could not be bother to show the house to my wife and self.

attended a music day here and it was excellent. Hector Christie is a charming but a little eccentric host but everybody were friendly and the gardens and surrounding grounds are idyllic to walk through. Very reasonable entrance fee.

We had a lovely day, children allowed to play on the grass no "keep off the grass" signs anywhere. The staff in the ticket office and cafe were lovely and very helpful. It also really helps that you can take dogs round (is it possible though to have a 'dog poo' bin as we had to drive into Instow afterwards to get rid of ours). Well worth a visit
