Stayed a few nights whilst playing golf nearby and had a very enjoyable stay. Not the first time we have stayed here and rooms are comfortable, not luxury, but good enough for our needs. Didn't eat our evening meal here on this occasions but have in the past and the food is also very good. Good choice of beers and ales in the bar and breakfast will set you up for the day if you are looking for a big English start to the day!

Room Tip: Just ask to see what is available, had one at the back of the hotel which was quite small on the second visit had a room at the front and it was much larger and more modern so just choose carefully.

We stayed here last night, we booked late and were given a front facing room with fabulous views. We felt the room was overpriced at £80 pppn as the finishing touches were missing, eg no hairdryer (standard in the most basic of rooms) and a second chair to sit on (it was spacious for another chair).
The staff were helpful and very professional, the food was perfectly cooked and very tasty. The breakfast was enormous and very tasty, however not one of the guests finished the full english or the omlette, which is appears to be a huge waste. We would suggest offering second portions to hungrier guest, therefore greatly reducing the waste.
On a slightly negative note, we were made to feel uncomfortable by the frequent loud comments of one of the regulars, who was most upset that my partner had the last T bone steak!! Also the 7am alarm of loudly whistling pipes was not what we had expected, but it got us up for breakfast.

Spent a night at this Inn during a return holiday trip from Australia in April whilst touring Devon. I used to spend many a summer holiday as a kid in Instow before emigrating to Australia in 1991. Met by the manager who carried our cases to our very comfortable first floor room. Evening dinner in the restaurant was excellent and the staff were very courteous and professional. The English cooked breakfast was big enough to feed a starving third world country. If you are a big eater, have a crack at it. The best presented and tasty breakfast I have ever had in any country at any hotel or restaurant. Well done to all the management, staff. You ticked all the boxes and more. And your lagers were nice and cold !!

As this is fairly near to us, we have eaten here many times with various family and friends, and can honestly say, we have never had a bad meal. In fact, we have always had a fantastic meal, and whether it is an evening meal or a Sunday lunch, the portions are always very generous, and the meals very tasty & perfectly cooked. If you want more veg they will bring it, and the staff are friendly and attentive and service is spot on. Vera oversees the whole place and makes sure you get exactly what you want. The menu is full and varied, even on a Sunday lunchtime, and there is something for everyone. Desserts are on a separate menu, and usually includes a fantastic raspberry pavlova! (if you have room).
Dogs are welcome, and there is a relaxed atmosphere around the bar, with friendly locals! Would highly recommend, and advise booking, as it does get busy, and rightly so! Will definately go back, again and again!

Room Tip: We didn't stay here as we live nearby.

We go to North Devon a lot but we don't normally stay at Instow preferring to be on the coast near Mortehoe but this time we chose to stay at the Wayfarer Inn at Instow Our dog was welcomed at the hotel, the room was warm and comfortable and the food in their restaurant/bar was excellent value. We had intended to eat in a nearby restaurant on the second night but we found the menu choice and the quality of the food so good we ate at the Wayfarer again! A good selection of beers and wines were available and the owners and staff were very friendly and helpful.Unfortunately there isn't a car park adjoining the hotel but when we went in February there was plenty of free road parking very close by; not sure what it would be like in the height of the holiday season.
I couldn't fault our 2 night stay and would recommend the Wayfarer Inn to anyone.
