We go to North Devon a lot but we don't normally stay at Instow preferring to be on the coast near Mortehoe but this time we chose to stay at the Wayfarer Inn at Instow Our dog was welcomed at the hotel, the room was warm and comfortable and the food in their restaurant/bar was excellent value. We had intended to eat in a nearby restaurant on the second night but we found the menu choice and the quality of the food so good we ate at the Wayfarer again! A good selection of beers and wines were available and the owners and staff were very friendly and helpful.Unfortunately there isn't a car park adjoining the hotel but when we went in February there was plenty of free road parking very close by; not sure what it would be like in the height of the holiday season.
I couldn't fault our 2 night stay and would recommend the Wayfarer Inn to anyone.

A really friendly pub/bar offering a great menu of excellent quality. Very social and attentive staff make it a unique experience.

Sited yards off the seafront at Instow it's well worth a visit but a reservation will definitely be in order at weekends or high season!!

lovely little inn, we had such a warm welcome from the staff here,
the food was delicious, good value for money,
we shared the whitebait starter, which filled us up, but had enough room for the scampi and chips, and steak and ale pie, both were yummy, you can go large with the scampi, but it was big enough just the normal size, really enjoyed our meal here, nice ambience and friendly attentive staff which you dont always get everywhere these days, thank you all

Recently I required accommodation in this lovely part of the world. I chose The Wayfarers, mainly because it is dog friendly and not expensive. It is tucked away in a side street at the end of Instow sea front but only about 30m from the beach. This is also a plus if you have a dog, the beach is dog friendly too. Naturally all the usual pet hygiene rules apply on the sandy beach.

The inn itself turned out to be just my sort of pub. Extremely good food and an excellent choice of alcoholic beverages. Despite the time of year, business seemed to be booming. Accommodation was fully booked and each evening the bar was heaving with locals and visitors eating and drinking. Whilst mentioning food, should you be staying and tempted to order the full English breakfast. Be prepared not to eat for a very long time after, it is massive, at least two of everything

My, and my little dog’s room was actually a large family room with a queen sized bed, bunk beds and pleasant furniture. There was also a large en suite bathroom. It was extremely cold during my stay but the very efficient heating was left on all the time. Just one small downside, could definitely have done with a radiator in the bathroom too.

Unfortunately, the inn does not have any private parking. However, there is ample on street parking and it was not cause for concern.

Overall, an extremely friendly, clean and pleasant place to stay or even just go for a drink or a meal. If you intend eating, I think it would be sensible to give them a call on 01271 860342 and make sure there will be a table for you. It seems to be a very popular establishment.

Room Tip: My room was at the rear of the building overlooking the beer garden, In winter it was quiete but on warm summer days this may not be the case.

Dined here for lunch today. Excellent fresh food beautifully cooked and served with a smile. Very reasonable prices. One of best Fish and Chips i've had for a long time! Small portions were ample too. Will return on future trips to North Devon
