Owners, John and David, were welcoming and ever helpful.
Accommodation represents excellent value for money; clean, thoughtfully prepared, modern and sufficiently spacious.
If you find a better breakfast anywhere please let us know. The local produce used is just superb.
We believe a lot of thought has gone into Overcombe House and it shows. You would have to be unrealistically demanding to be disappointed.
Easy access to the moor and a lot of local attarctions.

Room Tip: The rear rooms upstairs offer great views over the moor.

I enjoyed a very pleasant and comfortable overnight stay on 9 July 2012. The accommodation and facilities were of a high standard and I was made to feel very welcome. There was also good advice about dining venues in the nearby attractive village centre, and the hotel is conveniently situated between Tavistock and Plymouth. I would certainly choose it again if ever touring in the area. Many thanks.

My partner and I booked a last minute short break at Overcombe House in mid July. The main asset that this place has is the owners, David and John, who are helpful, considerate and polite. Most of the rooms have had a makeover, apart from the twin one which we had but this did boast a bathroom whereas most of the other rooms had showers. The breakfasts were superb with a great choice of hot and cold food and as much to eat as you wanted. The rooms were all spotless and the boys recommended local eateries which were just right. The hotel is well located for Dartmoor and the market town of Tavistock and the city of Plymouth.
Just a couple of negatives. As mentioned before, the sound proofing could be a bit better, but maybe we notice other peoples noise more as we live in a detached house. It would be great to have a residents lounge as a place to sit and read the books and magazines that are supplied in abundance. Finally boys, please do something with the garden. It can be wildlife friendly and also provide a view for guests and a place for them to sit in the sunshine.

We stayed 2 nights. David and John couldn't have been more hospitable, their restaurant recommendations were spot-on, and their attention to every little detail was a delight. The guest house interior has been recently re-decorated, and the outside is just waiting for better weather to be completed. Our comfortable bedroom had wonderful views over Dartmoor, and the breakfast was one of the best I have had in any of the many hotels I have stayed in for business. Highly recommended.

Our double room was very comfortable and clean with a nice view. We would have preferred a small table and chairs where the extra single bed was placed as there wasn't alot of room to sit and relax and we did pay for a larger 'Moor room'. The ensuite shower room was very small and obviously converted from a wardrobe. The car park was also compact and difficult to manoevre in with a larger car and it wasn't even full when we stayed there! However, the hospitality tray in our room was well stocked with quality beverages, biscuits, sweets and bottled water but we were a little disappointed that we weren't offered the advertised welcome tea and cake on our arrival. The breakfast was excellent with great choice and we loved the scrambled eggs and home made marmalade. There are two pubs within walking distance which both offer food and like David and John are very welcoming. Overcombe House was a great place to stay if you are visiting Morwellham Quay, Tavistock and Buckland Abbey.
