Went for a few days golf with my best mate who is not easily pleased, I can assure you!

Firstly, the Ashbury courses are a couple of miles from the Manor Hotel, which we knew before we arrived, so was no problem at all.
The car park when we arrived was packed, and it is not small!!
However the place is amazing, we have never seen anything like it before.
Seemed like hundreds of people milling around in golf gear, but the organizational qualities are second to non. Within a few minutes of walking into the Pro shop we were allocated a buggy and directed to the 1st tee.
The courses are all well maintained and despite the wet weather held up remarkably well considering all the traffic!
The food at The Manor was also magnificent, Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner considering the amount of people staying here, could not be faulted. The waiting staff, young & not quite so young were always smiling & helpful too.
All in all this was without doubt the best experience we have had in our golfing travels, anywhere!!
We will back next year for some more, hopefully with some better weather.
I would recommend this place unreservedly.

My sister and I have just had a fantastic 4 day crafty break at the Manor House. We managed to get onto all the crafts we had planned to do and enjoyed them all. We found all staff and tutors very friendly, helpful and polite. Our room was clean, spacious and with plenty of storage. The meals were good and varied and the only downside was the number of tables in the dining room - it was very cramped and noisy. Overall, this was very good value for money and we plan to return again as soon as we can.

We stayed here at the beginning of October and for four of our party, of seven, this was our second stay this year. I can only agree with other reviewers that the hotel is looking a little dated and in need of some tlc. However, they don't claim to be a luxury hotel.

On both occassions that we have stayed this year we have found the rooms to be clean and comfortable. On this occassion our room could not have been further from the main building meaning that we had quite a lengthy walk from the main building. On the upside there is a covered walkway all the way which meant that if it was raining you did not have to get wet going to and from your room.

We were staying with five friends. Two of us were there to play golf and managed to play each day of our stay on the excellent courses at the Ashbury hotel. We also had the benefit of free golf buggies at the time that we stayed. Whilst we were enjoying ourselves on the course our wives and other members of our party were doing pottery, woodwork, jewellery making etc or just being pampered with massages and beauty treatments.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner, which is all included in the cost, are of a fairly good standard and considering the amount of people that they are serving service, on the whole , was quite good. Having said that on our second night service was not that great and it actually took over two hours to get through dinner.

I think that most people visit the Manor House not for the quality of the rooms but for the quality of the facilities that are offered i.e. the excellent golf courses, free tuition for all the craft and sport activities. I am sure that we will be returning again next year.

Room Tip: Some rooms, the higher numbers, are quite a distance from the main building.

I've just been to Manor House, two weekends running. Firstly with 14 family members for a 70th birthday party and then with 12 'girls' from our tennis club for a weekend of tennis and fun. Yes, the rooms are now a bit small and dated but they are clean and everything works. The food is plentiful and good quality but not gourmet. The wine is exceptional value and other drinks are very reasonably priced. Considering the amount of free activities which include a wide variety of sports, a vast array of crafts and very well priced treatments the whole deal is exceptional value for money. My 13yo granddaughter said it was her best holiday ever! We went twice some twelve years ago, and I have been 4 times in recent years. It looks like I'll be going at least twice a year from now on! The staff are excellent and most accomodating. The whole place is huge feat of organisation and runs like a well-oiled machine although I expect there's a lot of paddling going on under the surface!

This hotel gives "grob" a bad name. We left before even staying the first night. The restaurant, if you can call it that, looked more like a school canteen and the smell was awfull. It was also very crowded and the thought of eating all your meals in one place just put us all right off. The other areas were very dated and the lounge areas were vile.

Yes, I guess the hotel offers a wide variety of all inclusive activities. But is that really enough to put up with this filth???

I wouldn't normally write a review and haven't for any of our holidays but are happy to read them and generally make a decision based on others comments....I feel I need to let others know just what a great place this hotel is. I have just returned from a 4 day trip and stayed at the Manor House. Went with my husband and two boys (9 and 13). I couldn't not find fault in this hotel, ok the hotel was dated but this did not dampen our experience. What's the saying? 'if it an't broke don't fix it" am sure if this was to be re refurbished/done up the prices would no doubt go the same way.!!Rooms and hotel very clean and the food was great! based on this price, all activities and the golf included we will defiantly be back.

We stayed at the Ashbury with the sole intention of playing golf every day. The only thing to do in our rooms was sleep. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable.
There was lots of weather but we managed to play 18 holes every day and also had time for other sporting activities.
Food was ok, some choice, not gourmet but to be honest very nice considering the number of people they cater for.
Staff in the main were friendly and very helpful. (There were a couple of grumpy waitresses)
I would recommend The Ashbury for golf breaks as we had a great time despite the weather.
