“Lovely walk but too many bikes”

This is a great walk with beautiful scenery. However you spend most of your time moving out of the way of cyclists which is a shame.

clearly well thought out and expensive to build, this flattish bike/walking route which includes long stretches of purpose built boardwalk over the mud flats is an ideal route to take. watch out for Topsham (God's waiting room) as the locals are less friendly than normal - one old get leaped out of the bus shelter and forced my 10 year old son to cycle off the shared pavement/cycle track and on the very busy main road where lorries and buses were thundering past.
apart from that slight disappointment i can strongly recommend the route on both sides of the estuary for cyclists. a nice pub a Turf Lock is also worth a visit as they do very nice food. BEWARE - the Topsham ferry doesn't always run when the tide is out.

This is a fantastic trail for walking or cycling parts or the whole and connects Topsham to Exmouth completely off road with great views.

If you venture onto the estuary trail between Exmouth and Topsham please keep a careful watch out for cyclists. Sometimes it feels like walking along the main road is safer than the trail. Don't expect too much in terms of views because the railway embankment blocks a lot of the vista for most of the way and high wooden fences block the inland views in places (eg at Nutwell).

At last a safe, smooth path for everyone to enjoy the stunning Exe Estuary. Perfect for buggies, wheelchairs, bikes small and big, walking or running. The only bit that is tricky is at Exton and Lympstone when you have to do a bit of on road walking. In this sense the best stretches are Exmouth to Lympstone and then from Lympstone train station to Exton. Always keep your ears open as bikes frequently whizz up from behind and can nearly run you over if you're not alert and they don't have bells! Look out for the ice cream bike on hot days - a nice treat.
