An eclectic mix of tables and large comfortable leather sofas incorporating an enclosed area for parents of toddlers to relax in comfort. The food and cakes are lovingly made by the Book Rest Baker and prepared on site by our friendly team. We cook breakfasts to order from 8.30am until 11.30am. There is a spacious quiet area with picture windows overlooking the street, ideal for people watching. We aim to provide a unique, relaxing atmosphere with the highest quality, freshest food, excellent service and reasonable prices.

The two previous reviews have nailed it. Central, lively and good food. I had called in previously to enquire about gluten free food, which they do serve. For a lunchtime bite my partner had a warm scone, I had soup of the day, (moroccan chick pea), with gluten free rosemary bread, which was excellent. The latte coffee, made fresh, was very good. Friendly service, and we bough some books downstairs. We will visit again when in Exmouth.

Have only sampled the drinks and homemade cake but both are excellent
There are sofas overlooking a main street which is great if you like a bit of people watching!
There is also a secure play area for younger children where you can still sit and enjoy whilst they play with a range of toys and books, the area has a small fence to it so there is no chance of your child wandering off to another table!
Only downside is the steep steps which can be intimidating if you are trying to get up them with your bag and a small child and there is only a small amount of space to leave your pushchair.
The bookshop below is excellent value for money also

A cafe above a book shop. The majority of the food (sandwiches and cakes) are handmade, home cooked and presented very well. Inexpensive and a great atmosphere. Ideal for people watching from the large comfortable settees situated in the widow area. Also ideal for youngsters as a large gated play area has been set aside with a large range of toys and activities.
