Myself and my wife spent a very relaxing and comfortable lunch time in this spacious and well appointed restaurant, ideally placed in one corner of the Strand in Exmouth Town Centre. We have visited on many occasions before but were attracted by the new 'Prix-Fixe' Menu, a varied choice of three starters and four main courses all for £9.95.

I chose the soup and fish of the day ( mackerel ), my wife decided on the Venison Terrine and Moules Frites.

The service was efficient and unhurried and the food was hot, very well presented, perfectly cooked and extremely good value for money.

I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Spent the evening with friends at this traditional Pub. Had an excellent meal, especially the local muscles, which were plump and tasty with an excellent cider / leek sauce. Great range of beers and excellent wines at very reasonable prices. Nothing was too much trouble, the staff were happy and chatted about the food and offered a taste of some unusual/guest beers. Later on a Soul Band played to end a memorable evening. We were just visitors to the area but this would be my local choice every week.It was a wet evening, so we were inside but there is a walled outside area which on a nice day would be good. Excellent!

I have been meaning to write a review for some time now and am glad I have now got around to it.

After months of using this pub for a number of different uses, I cant express how highly I would recommend it, on my first visit to the pub I was meeting old friends who said to meet there, we had wine and a "Mezze platter" it was great simple food with a lovely Mediterranean twist... Ideal for summer. The evening was nice, quite and peaceful (just what we were looking for). Since then I have been back many a time and have enjoyed everyone.

On my last visit (6th oct) with my partner, we had an evening meal, the service was perfect for the surroundings, our waiter/ barman was very pleasant and recommended a lovely wine. We hadn't booked, it was very busy but were quickly helped to a table. Our dinner was beautiful, a real shock for the price as it was great value. Along with the ambience and wine we had a lovely evening.

I wish this place every success and I hope my comments are of use, it's a great place for all occasions and is a lovely nirvanna most lunches and is a great alternative to jacket potatoes and macaroni cheese!

*The current photo does not do the food justice!

I love the atmosphere of this gastro pub and have enjoyed many visits, the beer and wine are good and reasonably priced but when I ate there recently I was disappointed

The evening got off to a bad start when my wife noticed something in her wine on taking her first sip - she took it back and was asked by the waitress/barperson whether it had been in there when it was served to her - well she was a bit taken aback because the attitude was not like that we had experienced any time before - after given reassurances that she had not put it in there and it certainly did not look like a flying object she was given a fresh glass

My wife and I had been dieting and really fancied a nice meal as a treat - so we both picked steak which came with chips and green beans

On both meals the beans were luke warm, some of the chips were undercooked and the steak was tough, full of gristle and of poor quality - my wife chewed her way through hers - I had a couple of mouthfuls, tried the greens and chips and decided that the meal was so bad overall that I would not eat any more of it

By the time I was able to get service my wife had almost finished hers - so I turned down the offer of a replacement- When it came to pay it was almost reluctantly agreed that I would not have to pay for my meal

The whole experience spoilt what was going to be a special night out - it was the attitude of the waitress/barperson which was the most irritating thing and to be honest it was out of place with the level of service we normally receive

I have always recommended the Grapevine – now I feel that I have to people about my last visit and the sad thing is that as I will not go back to eat, I am not going to be able to judge whether it was a one off or the sign of things going downhill
