Having been treated like a rabid dog at the sister hotel(the imperial) and practically told we weren't the type of people they wanted there by the receptionist. I was wary about trying the grand, what a difference 100 yds makes! The receptionist(who I later found out was the manager's wife) could not do enough to accommodate us even though we hadn't pre-booked. In fact she gave us an upgrade (for no extra) to a sea view room. The hotel itself was busy but not too busy that you couldn't sit and have a drink in comfort, because of the coach party bookings the evening meal was served at one sitting, but was most welcome after a long day in sweltering sunshine. ideally situated on the sea front, I would definitely recommend it for the more mature traveller, evening entertainment included bingo. The rooms were clean and spacious and the service was quick but attentive. I cannot praise the management and the hard working staff enough and although I am not yet ready for bingo I will definitely stay there again, even if it is only to say thank you .
