We had a two night stay at this lovely hotel. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the ambiance is relaxed with real fires, soft cozy seating, plenty of books and games and a fully stocked bar. The breakfasts were excellent and our three course meal was very nice too. The setting is wonderful - perfect for a silent night's sleep.

Our room was spacious and comfortable with a gorgeous leather bed, double bath and flatscreen tv. The tea/coffee tray was generous and there were fluffy towels and bathrobes (these things are important for a cozy weekend away in my book!)

The best thing about this kind of hotel is that it's a local/family run place with character and charm - so refreshing after inner-city bland hotels.

I would highly recommend this hotel for its super friendly staff, the wonderful location and the unique atmosphere.

What a fantastic place. We stayed for one night just to get away from the hum drum of the city and we weren't disappointed. The staff were so friendly and we were upgraded on arrival as it was quiet for the time of the year, the room was superb. We took our dog who was very welcome and we had a lovely time. We wil definitely be revisiting.

We only stayed one night but will hopefully go back next year for a longer stay. The room was very comfortable, the food excellent and the staff very friendly. It is very secluded in the middle of Exmoor so don't expect night life, but relaxing or walking is what this area is about. One point that I thought was very good, was that the area receives no mobile phone signals but they still only charge 20p per min for calls to landlines and 30p per min for calls to mobiles - a lot of places would bump up the prices by much more. The wine list was very good with reasonable prices as well. There is a pub 100 yards down the road that does very good Exmoor Ale as well.

We stayed at the Simonsbath House Hotel for a couple of days recently. The weather was dreadful but we had such a wonderful stay here. We had a lovely cosy warm room with fantastic views and we didn't want to leave. It has a lovely relaxing lounge and bar area with great log fires. We didn't dine in the evening but the spread for breakfast was absolutely fantastic.
The biggest plus that makes this place are the welcoming, friendly, warm and delightful people who are the owners and staff.
The place is perfect for walkers and sightseers.

Very pleased with our 2 night stay, cosy log fires, wooden panelling, leather sofas, interesting books/mags and intelligent conversation from host Andrew. He, wife Louise and all staff made every effort to be helpful and welcoming. They will always help you find a good walking route or recommend places to visit. Many places claim to use fresh local produce but you can tell that the Simonsbath actually does, breakfasts (using local sausages and eggs) and dinner was superb and cooked to perfection - Exmoor lamb, local cheeses, homemade dessert - wonderful. Fresh flowers on the table arrangements was a nice touch, no ghastly fake flowers or plants. Locally made crafts and books are sold in the hotel. Stunning views and perfect location, our dog was welcome too. You've got the coast and the moors to choose from for visiting and walking.

Just come back from 6 nights staying in the self catering part of this above hotel - we had been previously in Jan of this year as well as staying at the hotel for special occasions - the setting is sublime - there is not a better view on exmoor and being sat in their garden with a cold beer on a warm summer`s evening was the business.the barn conversions are all well equipped and attractively laid out -throw in a good restaurant in the hotel and great hosts and you have a perfectly relaxing holiday - try it
