Just had a great weekend in Exmoor based at Exmoor Forest Inn.

Access to the moor is right across from the Hotel and we had five hours or fantastic views and miles of trails to walk. The sun was out and could not have delivered a better day to enjoy Exmoor.

The hotel is ideally located and the host Nick Smith his family and staff made for a great stay. The food is excellent and the choice made it easy to eat there over our stay.

If you want to explore Exmoor and are looking for a good base then I can recommend this hotel.

Despite my contacting them a week in advance to inform them of my dietary needs and I made a couple of easy suggestions, nothing was available for me,which I found rather upsetting. On the whole OK,but a few things need tweeking. Lovely staff.

Stayed over for just one night on the way back to Midlands from Cornwall but wished we could have stayed longer. Certainly not a 5 star establishment but they don't charge 5 star prices either. The Inn has everything you need with comfortable beds, good food, good beer and a pleasant atmosphere. Also a great location and very clean. The proprietors have not been in the Inn for many months and they are obviously working very hard to renovate the place (having already achieved a lot) and as such it could become a real favourite on Exmoor in future. They were very welcoming, friendly and provided excellent service in the restaurant. I was impressed and intend to return in future.

We stayed there on the Friday and Saturday of the recent bank holiday weekend. We were made to feel welcome by the owners and staff, who were helpful and friendly.

The room was comfortable, the food was excellent - and good value - and there was a good selection of well-kept ales - always a bonus!

We enjoyed a short break at the Exmoor Forest Inn in July 2010 to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary. Having booked online as a random selection, we knew nothing of the Inn and were very pleased with our choice. We had a spacious room with an huge bed and good ensuite facilities. The setting of the hotel was quite remote but this was not a problem because the food and hospitality were excellent. It was a good location for walking and wildlife. We thought the Inn was well run and we had a very comfortable stay. The food was superb. We had three dinners, three breakfasts and a lunch at the Inn and all of these were delicious and well presented. The menu was varied with lots of fresh produce. The sirloin steak with stilton and red wine was divine!
Thoroughly recommended
