We checked into the hotel on 23rd December for a 5 day Christmas package. We were greeted by a friendly and knowledgable receptionist, who explained everything and showed us to our room, where we found a Christmas card, sweeties and wine waiting for us.
We retired to the lovely cosy lounge, with a log burner, to take advantage of their super FREE welcome cream tea.
The meals are incredible, normal 5 course evening meal, 7 course for Christmas. You definately need to put any ideas of dieting on hold until you leave.
The restaurant staff are friendly and efficient, not stuffy or in your face. There is a relaxed atmosphere, where you feel you can either dress up or be casual and comfortable.
The owners, Peter and Linda are so friendly and welcoming and full of info about their area.
They made us the most devine packed lunch for a day out on Exmoor.
We enjoyed carols around the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve, and the Devon and Somerset Staghounds Boxing Day Meet.
Our biggest suprise was the fabulous Christmas hamper, a present from Santa on Christmas day, very unexpected but very welcome.
All in all a super time was had by all. A great hotel, in a great location, with great company.
If you ride there is also a good stable next to the hotel.
We highly recommend a stay at this Inn, not just at Christmas, but at any time of year.

We have just spent our 10th Christmas at The White Horse, and found the warmth and
welcome from Linda, Peter and thier Staff to be excellent.
The food was superb and a wonderful varied menu.
Nothing is too much trouble for everyone concerned here and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay - as usual.
Thank you everyone.

Spent a weekend there in November. The room was ok - nowhere near as nice as the ones shown on the website. It was decorated in a rather 1980's style - lots of patterns and pine! However it was a good size and the bathroom was nice.

Breakfast was very good but early (8am to 9.30) - in winter months it would be nice to have a little longer snuggled up in bed!! Also the cleaning staff were outside our room before 9am chatting rather loudly so there was no chance of privacy anyway.

Location was okay - a nice small village - with hindsight we felt staying somewhere like Lynton, Lynmouth or dunster would have been better as there would have been a greater variety of places to go in the evening. However it is a nice place with a couple of pubs and a shop!

Parking is a real problem - as we arrived late we couldn't get a space and had to park on the road- this is not good as there is no street lighting.

Generally an okay place but not cheap and we saw cheaper deals in other places. Good if you're planning to do lots of walking, just don't expect it to look like it does on the website - it doesn't!!!

We have been staying at the Exmoor Whitehorse for over 10 years and each time we visit (average about four times a year) our stay is as relaxing and satisfying as ever,We have never found reason to complain (except for the amount of food we are expected to eat!).Peter is improving the hotelconstantly and as always our stay and comfort is their priority.Once more an excellent break with the staff at the White Horse and even the weather didnt spoil our stay! See you all again in February! Also TED (the dog) loves it! he is always made a great fuss of!
