We stayed here for our 40th wedding anniversary having seen the offer on Living Social Deals Lovely hotel.Beautiful bedroom. Staff very good. Food excellent. My only complaint, they had a curry night which we quite fancied. We had eated in the restaurant before so asked it we could have the curry which was a bar meal in the comfort of the restaurant as the seating in the bar area was like wooden benches and seemed to occupied mostly by locals. we were told it was possible but would have to be charged the going rate for a restauarant meal!!. Double the price to sit in another room. I thought as a paying guest it was a rip off. So we ate in the bar.But I will go back and certainly do the Safari.

Further to your comments we have now decided that Curry Night will no longer be offered as an option in the Hotel Restaurant as we hate the idea that people leave here feeling that they have been "ripped off". We pride ourselves on offering excellent service and value for money, and we always listen to, and take seriously, feedback from our customers, therefore Curry Night will now only be a Bar Food option. We really hope we can have the pleasure of welcoming you back to The Exmoor White Horse Inn in the near future.

stayed here many times in past 15 years and it has been very good, unfortunately it has deteriorated.Unfriendly welcome, she then ran up 4 flights to room 6, i could not keep up with her as I was carrying 20 Kgs, eventually found her, "light switch on wall beside bed" and slammed door.not a good welcome. Waiter on first night was out of Fawlty Towers, constantly apologising, my wife was escorted to carvery for her lamb and the Maitre de told him to cut it thin as he had someone he had to give a good portion to, the waiter apologised to me that my apple pie had collapsed, when it was obviously the scrapings from the dish. We had an excellent french waiter on the following nights, altho the food was not as good as on previous visits.

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking river.

We were very disappointed to read your review as we place great importance on welcoming back past customers, and we can only apologise for the experience you had. However, as a previous customer you will hopefully realise that this type of service is not what would usually be experienced here at the Exmoor White Horse Inn, and we only wish you had brought it to our attention whilst you were here as there really is little we can do or say once guests have left. We truly hope that you will give us another chance in the future to prove to you that what you experienced is most definitely not the norm!

We were given a voucher to stay for 3 nights as a present for my wifes birthday (?) we could not have stayed at a better more welcoming hotel. The staff were brilliant so welcoming & helpful through out our stay. We stayed in room 6 overlooking the river & found room & bathroom spacious, clean & extremely comfortable. The restaurant menu for dinner we found comprehensive & extremely enjoyable. Breakfast for both of us was very best ever.
Thanks to all Richard Angela & Cassie (dog) Millen

I am writing this review on behalf of my lovely inlaws, Lyn and Terry. My husband and I decided to treat them to a romantic break to celebrate their 40th anniversary. We saw the Living Social deal and thought it would be perfect and it was.

They stayed on the 11th of September for 2 nights. Having caught up with them both yesterday, I felt compelled to leave a glowing report.

Lyn and Terry said without exception the staff were excellent, helpful and friendly with the attitude that nothing was too much trouble. I don't know which room they were in but they said it was clean and spacious and it certainly looked nice from the photos they showed us. They said the the breakfast, bar and restaurant food was good quality and well priced.

They were also sensible enough to book the Exmoor Safari, they went on the later afternoon/early evening trip and had the guide to themselves and saw loads of wildlife. They said it was a real must for anyone staying at the White Horse. We will be buying the talented Peter Hendrie's 2013 calendar as a Christmas present for Lyn and Terry!

We just really wanted to say a huge thank you to Peter and the team at the White Horse for making Lyn and Terry's trip a special one. They have both said they are planning a return visit and I expect my husband and I will be joining them.

Many thanks again, Zara and Neil.

Having today returned from a weekend at the White Horse we felt we had to comment on the hotel

This is a fab place
Brill location
Nice rooms
But most of all the customer service is as good as it gets
Perfect balance of attentiveness without at all being too much
You will be made to feel very welcome here
Try it!
