“a bit dissapointing”
Reviewed July 24, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

On a very busy main road at the front which proved a little dangerous on ocassions, i would not recommend parking along the man road to unpack. Around the back of the house is where the parking space is..which is very high up steep steps leading to the back door. Be VERY careful on these steps. No good for anyone with poor mobility. We were ok as we are very mobile..but even so when it rained the steps were slippery and nothing stable to hold on to.
There is a tiny back yard which is very smelly. The house itself has quite a damp feel. The bedding was covered in hair, im not certain it was fresh bedding! The toilet is not suitable for tall or large people. It is TINY! you can not move in it..i am not very big. It was very uncomfortable. Apart from this we had a nice time and enjoyed the area. But i would not return to the house. Sorry.

“Home comforts in an ideal setting”

I have just returned from a lovely sunny Easter break at Coombe Martin with my family including Tori the dog. Coombe itself is a beautiful and not over commercialised place. The area is very dog friendly, allowing dogs on beaches, in restaurants and shops. Pebbles is perfectly situated, to explore Coombe and the surrounding area. The ground floor accommodation, very close to beach and town, offers a comfortable lounge with dining table and chairs. There are games, videos and books to enjoy . There is a large well equipped kitchen and two good bedrooms. There is room to park one vehicle at the rear of the property but access to the house from here is via a very steep set of steps. The front garden leads directly onto a quite busy road so families with young children would need to take care. This was my first visit, but it will definitely not be my last.

“Warm and cosy flat in an excellent location. Great value for money.”
Reviewed October 23, 2014 for a stay in October 2014

This is a lovely warm, cosy, clean flat in an excellent location for exploring North Devon. It is almost directly opposite the beach at Combe Martin and a short walk down the hill takes you to all the facilities Combe Martin has to offer. There is a regular bus service to Ilfracombe and beyond which saves on driving and paying parking fees!
The car parking space at the rear is accessed by very steep steps but if you don't fancy negotiating these you can walk the long way round to the front or you can try parking on the road, just down the hill, for free.
The flat is suitable for families and close friends since the double bedroom is entered off the twin room. The shower is entered off the twin room and the toilet is very small but perfectly functional, clean and well-maintained.
It is evident that the owners have gone to great lengths to make it a 'home away from home' with everything you need in the kitchen and games. books, jigsaws and videos for all ages.
We loved it here and are already planning our next visit.

“Coombe Martin fine. Apartment average.”
Reviewed August 6, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We had wonderful weather and enjoyed our weeks holiday. But the owners need to step upto the mark a little bit. There were quite a few basic things missing - like bedside lights, waste paper bins, coffee maker and a few other things -easily remedied.

Also wifi was promised but not available.

“Damp and smelly”
Reviewed July 19, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

There is a big problem with the smell of damp in the first bedroom (where my husband and I slept for the convenience of our foster daughter). It is not only offensive, but made sleeping in there really uncomfortable, as the sheets and duvet were also damp. One night I ended up having to sleep on the sofa because I was feeling quite ill with the smell. The apartment was relatively clean ( not pristine, by anyone's standards) but there were stains on the bedroom carpet (which I scrubbed off myself by getting down on my knees with a bucket of water and some vanish spray). ~There was signs of mould on the ceiling and walls and skirtings. I had paid extra for the beds to be made up, and was disappointed to find that the sheets on the single beds were actually not sheets at all but were waterproof mattress covers. The apartment is one of two halves. The kitchen and the sitting room are pleasant and well stocked with all you need, but the shower room is tiny (and because it is in the first bedroom and un-ventilated is the cause, I'm sure, of damp). There was also a smell of cat urine in there which clearly won't surprise the owner as she mentions that if the dog flap isn't suitably covered, stray cats do wander into the property and spray. The toilet was so tiny it was a challenge in itself really. But then, the master bedroom, which my daughter stopped in, was really pleasant, and relatively smell free. I think I would have really enjoyed this stay had the damp issue not been such a big one, and if this could be sorted (by either supplying a de-humidifier or getting the property properly damp-proofed) it would have been worth the money.
