“Totally Outstanding”
Reviewed July 6, 2014

This was the first holiday for my wife and I as a couple since the birth of our first child over 28 years ago and we were definitely not disappointed. I knew we were in for a great time by her reaction as we drove down the farm drive to the farmhouse ( not sure if I will be able to reinstate the scratch marks on the dash where she held on so tight!!). When we arrived at Longlands the greeting from Bella could not have been more welcoming. We were directed to our lodge "Luscombe" and Bella followed on to show us around explaining how to set the fires in the stove and the shower boiler, using the solar lights etc and advising on using the facilities in the Longlands Larder should we wish to purchase supplies for our stay, she also advised on good local places to get supplies should we wish to and we thought that was a great touch and very helpful as she was for the whole of our stay. The inside of the lodge was amazing and everything oozed of quality, no cheap tat allowed here and everything "Earth" friendly where available even down to the manual coffee grinder. The setting was so peaceful and idyllic that you felt totally relaxed from the moment you first sat on the deck after unloading your cases to test that the wine had traveled okay! We sampled Bella's home made cooking on the first night which we thought was excellent and on another night cooked a meal on the Kadai on the lodges BBQ terrace with meat purchased from Besshill Farm Shop as recommended by Bella, our last night we ate lovely fresh trout (cooked using Bella's recipe) which we caught in the lake that afternoon, a perfect end to a perfect stay.

Would we return to Longlands? You bet, already booked for next year! Now we need to start training for that hill! :)

Room Tip: All lodges have spectacular views the only difference is that some are closer to the Longlands Larde...

My first trip to Longlands two weeks ago. What a place! Great location, loved the tents and the log fires. Never had to burn wood to get a hot shower before :) Bella couldn't be more helpful. The deck is a great place to chill with a drink and enjoy the scenery. The well stocked larder and breakfast ordering (if you want it) make life very easy. Highly recommended.

This was the perfect weekend away. The tents are beautiful and well-equipped with a great mix of rustic convenience. The owners provide you with everything you need to have delicious meals together in the dining area or on the porch. The beds are super comfy, but you still get the feeling that you're camping in the outdoors. There are beautiful places to hike nearby, and the beach was nice as well. I'm definitely planning on coming back.

This was a third trip to Longlands - and the first one with sunshine! The other visits were great as there is still loads to do that doesn't depend on the elements (and the lodges are really pretty weather-proof) but this brought a new element to the whole experience. Truly wonderful weekend and Bella as welcoming and fantastic as always.

We spent a lovely 4 nights at Longlands. The "tents" had everything you could possibly need and our girls loved sleeping in the cupboard bed. There was plenty to do, so much in fact that we ran out of time to do everything. Bella was extremely helpful and the meals she prepared were delicious. Highly recommended.

We have just returned from a 4 night break at Longlands and the only thing I'd change is that we should have stayed for 7 nights.

When it was time to leave, my 4 year old daughter hid my car keys and then hid herself under the bed!

We are planning to return later this year/early next year. Nothing was too much trouble for Bella and we had a wonderful stay. The fantastic reviews of Longlands on this site are thoroughly deserved. Having relied upon Tripadvisor for a number of years, this is the first time that I have felt compelled to write a review.

This was our first visit to Longlands and we are looking forward to making our next visit. Breathtaking scenery. Attention to detail is exquisitely perfect. The lodges are idlic with views far reaching. The children have never been so excited to go back to nature and have the freedom to run, climb, hide in the meadows, build a den, talk to the surrounding sheep, row boats and just be free. The food was so very wonderful, and the larder was a true blessing to have and thoroughly enjoyed choosing local and home made produce as I am a food stylist and caterer it was a heavenly rest for me.
Do look for her Candles in the larder they are beautiful! Bella has an amazing eye for detail and what must be a dedicated team. Longlands is situated perfectly and Bella has put together comprehensive list of recommended places to visit, we tried our hardest to cover most ! The combination of log burners, soft furnishings, chesterfield sofas, lanterns and herbs pots makes Longlands feel like home from home. Many thanks Bella you truly have a wonderful place at Longlands
