Sandaway Beach Holiday Park
Reviewed September 30, 2013 via mobile

Stayed in a silver poppy caravan which was lovely and clean. The staff were all really friendly & helpful. The views from the caravan park are beautiful. We walked down to the cove (beach) to find fantastic vistas would recommend good footwear as you do have to go over a rocky terrain at the bottom of the steps. The caravan had all the equipment you need and the shop onsite was very well stocked. The location is excellent with lots to do only a short few minutes drive away.

Have just spent a week at this site with my husband and could not fault it! It is in a beautiful location. Near to so many beautiful places.
The staff were very friendly and helpful as were the locals. We were sorry to leave!
The gold caravan was spotless, well equipped and with a beautiful view. The shop well stocked. Try the croissants... delicious! We only used the club house and Chefs corner twice, but both were excellent. Well done Gareth and the rest of the staff, you are marvellous. How people can moan about your efforts I will never know. See you all again. Hopefully soon! Thank-you for a great holiday.xxx

Thank you for taking the time to write such a fantastic review. We are thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed your stay and how helpful and friendly the staff were. We pride ourselves on our family feel at John Fowler Holidays, and are delighted to have such loyal customers as yourselves.

There is no need to worry too much about poor reviews for Sandaway - we have only had one all year and we are still not too sure what prompted that one.

We are happy that you thought Gareth and the entertainers were helpful and we will pass your comments on to them.

We look forward to welcoming you again very soon.

stayed at sandaway for a week with my whole family, kids, grandkids and dad, and can i say we were very happy with the holiday. it was great to have freddy meeting the kids when we got there, apparently it wasnt even scheduled as he was apparently 'just telling the stripey what would be happening later' wink wink! even so he stopped and made a fuss of us, and my hair, so watch out!! the other highlights for us were the great staff and the great views, worth their weight in gold! we loved the pool and spent each night in the club, which was great for the kids, seeing freddy and playing games, and for the adults the bar is nice and they have entertainment every night which was good and we loved the bingo! Much more fun than usual! we have told all our friends and will try to get in again next year, same time over freddys birthday weekend as they a party on the sunday which was great to have our kids on the bouncy castle with freddy! they miss him soooooo much! see you again next year is all i can say!

We have just returned from our family holiday. We have used John Fowler for six years now but we visit a different site each time so this is our first time at Sandaway. My daughter and I rent two units and bring our husbands my two grandchildren and our dogs. The caravans were clean, dry and warm, and the view of the bay was exeptional, there was great facilities for the dogs. Chefs corner was brilliant the meals were copious and tasty. Our only diappointment was the lack of variety in the entertainment and despite the promise of a nightly visit from one of the characters, it wasnt until we put in a request that the grandchildren actually met Freddie. Cudos to Adam Jones and Mark the stripey coats, who worked hard to entertain us, but because we have experience from other sites we felt a little let down (No party dances or foxy showtime and we were there for 10 days) So guys if your not going to provide it please dont advertise it. On the whole though we still enjoyed our holiday

Thank you for taking the time to write such a fantastic review. We are thrilled to hear how much you enjoyed the park and the catering.

We pride ourselves on our family feel at John Fowler Holidays, and are delighted to have such loyal customers as yourselves.

With regard to the "Foxy Club", I am sorry this was not up to our usual standard, but it is so difficult for our staff to run a full programme of activities with so few children attending. There have been some evenings since the end of the school holidays when only 3 children came to the club. Impossible to predict and difficult to deal with as you can appreciate.

However perhaps the situation would be different on our bigger parks and we look forward to welcoming you again very soon.

Park very well presented the staff pleasant & polite, bronze caravan a bit dated but you get what you pay for ;) good location to get out and about to north Devon area's & then there's cardiac hill just outside the park's entrance ok going down to Combe Martin bay for good food & a few drinks then try to climb back up. We have stayed at Sandaway a few times & we will definitely return.

We stayed for a long weekend in a bronze caravan. It was a special deal run by a national newspaper so an absolute bargain of a price. The site is in a fantastic location with amazing views. There is a coastal path running right alongside it which takes you on a very short walk down into Combe Martin itself. Although Combe Martin is very small it is very picturesque and we actually found plenty to do and some great places to eat. It's an ideal place for small children as there are lots of rock pools when the tide is out. There is also a walkway around the beach which lots of families were doing. It's only a short drive up the road to Hele, Ilfracombe and Woolacombe and of course is right on the edge of Exmoor. We went the first weekend of Sept and the Ilfracombe Maritime Festival was taking place. It was well worth visiting at this time as there were various different activities taking place in the harbour. We had no complaints about our caravan, in fact it was far better than I was expecting. It was an older caravan but spotlessly clean. The site is really lovely with a small shop selling a good variety of goods and where we bought freshly baked croissants for breakfast. The swimming pool looked very clean and was attended by a lifeguard and was used by some families whilst we were there. There is also a clubhouse which sounded quite lively on the Saturday night! The staff were friendly saying hello as we walked around the site and special arrangements were made for us by a member of staff as we arrived very late on the Friday night. I would absolutely not hesitate at all in recommending this site and I would certainly consider returning with family at the same bargain price.

We had a fantastic week at the Sandaway Beach holiday park. We stayed in an apartment with a beautiful sea view. Stunning location with and excellent beach in Combe Martin just a short walk away. The holiday parks beach down some steps is also breathtakingly beautiful and we even saw Dave the dolphin there! The kids loved the evening entertainment, especially the kids hour and dancing. The park is really well situated to visit North Devon and there is a fantastic castle/theme park for little ones a short drive down the road. The swimming pool is lovely and warm, with a little shallow area sectioned off for the little ones which worked perfectly for us. Only complaint was the beds were quite lumpy. Food cheap and cheerful.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view.
