We had an excellent 2 night stay at Blair Lodge. Nothing was too much trouble for Rachel & Nick. Rachel served tea and cake on arrival in their lovely garden and Nick was very imformative about the area and of course the breakfasts were superb! A very good base to explore North Devon. We hope to return sometime in the future.

We arrived somewhat jaded on 21st Sept. 2011 to a very warm welcome for our four night break booked only the Sunday before - sea view from the bedroom and only a 5 min. walk to the beach.Evening meals were excellent and varied and hot water was always HOT!.Rachel and Nick shared in our adventure trying to locate our niece who lives locally.Nothing was too much trouble. We laughed a lot and came back looking forward(so to speak!) to going again next spring.[---]

Room Tip: Front rooms are good if you like a sea view

I have not had chance to write a review any earlier, as I have been in hospital, but I would like to comment on what a wonderful holiday we had in Combe Martin at the end of August 2011. Rachel and Nick were lovely very friendly hosts, nothing was too much trouble.

Our room was lovely and comfortable, the food was good, Blair Lodge itself was very clean and stylish too. We had a cup of tea and cake offered to us as soon as we arrived (nothing I have ever had before on our many holidays).

Michael & Teresa Derham

Room Tip: Go to Blair Lodge!

We have just returned having stayed at Blair Lodge for 4 nights . we were met on our arrival by Rachel and Nick with a welcome pot of tea and home made lemon cake ! They are truly the most accommodating hosts , nothing was too much trouble and Nick was very informative of the surrounding area , advising places of interest and the best walks to go on , with maps provided .as well .
The property is situated right in the heart of Combe Martin , a few minutes walk to the sea front , shops and pubs . Our room was very comfortable and cleaned daily . The tea and coffee were refilled daily and Rachels cookies were "to die for"! . There was an excellent choice of food at breakfast which would suit all tastes . We didnt have the evening meals here but the menu again had plenty of options available .
I had a special treat as I spent my Birthday there and arrived at breakfast to find a candle on the table with happy birthday confetti and a birthday card ! How thoughtful !!
Overall we had a fantastic stay , the weather was exceptional and the area for walking is breathtaking .
We would definately return to Blair Lodge !!! Many thanks to Rachel and Nick for a lovely time .

We returned today after a short 3 night stay to re charge the batteries... we've certainly achieved that. We were welcomed with a pot of tea and freshly baked ginger cake care of Rachel, sitting in the sun on the front lawn. We felt our blood pressure immediately decrease and relaxation soon came upon us. Our room was at the front of the property with a view of the sea and was perfectly adequate for our needs. A plentiful supply of tea, coffee and hot chocolate were supplied with an added nice touch of home made biscuits which were replenished daily. We had a 3 course dinner followed by coffee there on our first night which was lovely and very reasonably priced at £15.50 pp. There was a nice choice for all of the courses and a wide variety of alcohol available from the bar if wanted. Breakfast was excellent and always a great time to listen to Nick discussing the various walks in the area, advising people appropriately, dependent on their specific requirements and requests. We're not walkers but after listening to him, I certainly think I could be persuaded to give it a go. A real bonus is the private car park to the front of the property which is a proper car park not a strip of grass 10 mins from where you're staying. Rachel and Nick are lovely warm and welcoming people and obviously work very hard to maintain such high standards of service yet it all seems to come very naturally to them both. We look very much to staying there again and anyone looking for a break in December, give them a call as they have an offer available which sounds lovely which includes mince pies, which if anything like Rachel's apple pie will be something not to miss!
