Stayed for 2 nights in August 2012 and loved it. Really quiet secluded location but only 10mins drive or 2 hour riverside walk to Lynton & Lynmouth which, are the 2 of the most beautiful towns we've visited. Outside seating right next to the flowing river was the perfect place to relax and enjoy a pint. The food was delicious on both nights and reasonably priced. The breakfast was ample and also delicious. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the bathroom was large and had a bath and power shower. The owners are friendly and helpful. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wish it was for longer....

Went on a Wednesday
4 adults,2 teens and 1 child

Food and service were great , the pies are really homemade and the pizza may not have been wood fired but tasted like it was .

We will be going back

Very good

We have just arrived home, after our weeks Holiday, the first 2 nights of which
we stayed at the Rockford Inn,on our way to Bude, what a great place it was, excellent customer service, spotlessly clean. The locals all made us feel so welcome too,( round the Bar in the evening) . Food also was excellent. Fantastic location, most certainly would not hesitate to stay here again. and would defintely recommend to Friends...A big thankyou to Sarah and Cathryn Excellent Hosts.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 7, which was lovely...looking out to the side of the Inn

We have just stayed for four nights at the Rockford Inn and were sad to leave. Its location is tranquil and very relaxing as is the inn itself. The food is lovely - would recommend the braised beef. When we arrived we were greeted by Tim who showed us to our room (4) which was excellent value. Really liked the homely extras - books and games to borrow, lots of local info and books. Owners Sarah & Cathryn were welcoming and helpful and nothing was too much bother. Would definitely recommend to friends and family and hope to visit again soon.

I stayed at the Rockford inn, so that I could spend some quality time with my Dad who lives overseas, we don't get to see each other very often and this was a special time for us both. Sarah and Cathryn have the perfect balance of excellent customer service and friendliness along with total respect for their guests individual needs and privacy. I had four days of exploring the beauty of Exmoor with my Dad, the place was beautifully located, everything under one roof for those who don't wish to venture too far and beautiful walks for those of us who enjoy them. The location itself has breathtaking scenery and the accomodation was both well presented and comfortable. The food was wonderful and we enjoyed breakfast and evening meals (which were extreamly reasonably priced - as were the drinks) for three days. Sarah is a magnificent chef and Cathryn a most pleasing host. I have very fond memories of my trip and would book again with no hesitation and totally recomend to anyone planning to stay in that area, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Such kind, friendly people, such a lovely place. On our last night we experienced very heavy rain, but found so much satisfation in sitting in front of a roaring open fire, eating a steak and having a glass of wine while the rain poured down outside - the Rockford inn shows Exmoor in it's real beauty - would certainly book again and highly recommend. thanks to Sarah, Cathryn and Tim who were part of the memory that made a very specail trip.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 6 (the twin room).

Just spent two nights at the Rockford Inn. It is difficult to imagine a more beautiful setting beside the bubbling river Lyn. The Inn seems fairly unassuming from the outside and quaint on the inside. We stayed in Room 2 which was a good size, spotlessly clean with a modern feel. It was well equipped with a lovely en suite shower room. Internet access was not easily accessible in the bedroom although I got a strong signal downstairs (well the Inn is hundreds of years old and I guess the walls particularly thick for the signal to get through). We ate at the Inn, I had a steak and ale pie (£10.95) and my husband had Lasagne (£9.95), both home cooked and delicious, the portions were generous too. There are lovely walks along the river and we walked the four miles to Lynmouth and then back again. We were made to feel welcome and definitely intend to stay again.

Myself and my partner have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Rockford Inn and really enjoyed ourselves. Both Sarah and Cathryn both know the meaning of great customer service so if you are looking for a B&B in a great and idyllic location that makes you feel welcome and has open fires and great food - you've found it! Would definitely recommend to others.

Room Tip: Room 7 is tucked away at the end of the building with the sound of the river to send you to sleep...

Thank you Daave77. Since we took over The Rockford Inn (2008) we have been gradually upgrading by introducing en-suite bathrooms and general refurbishment of the whole building. I'm pleased to say that the works are nearly complete. During that time Cathryn & Sarah have worked tirelessly to re-build the pub's reputation for service, quality and atmosphere. It's very satisfying to read your review and also those of others who have taken the time to compliment the girls.
