“Beautiful food”
Reviewed December 20, 2013 via mobile

Visited here on a Friday night as as always the atmosphere was lovely. Very cosy and intimate, perfect for a night out as a couple.
We both had starters and a main and each dish was beautiful! Nothing could be faulted and the service was also perfect.
Drinks cost the same as most restaurants, my bottle of wine was about £15.
This was my fourth visit, have had lunches and a Xmas party here and I will be back.

Thanks so much for your fantastic review. I am sorry I have not replied sooner but I didn't spot the review as it has been posted under Ten Green Bottles (our gift shop) instead of Jack Sprat's (our restaurant). It is confusing I know as we used to serve restaurant meals in Ten Green Bottles - we realise this is our fault completely. Your comments were so very lovely. We are delighted you enjoyed the food and service and that the atmosphere we created set the tone for a great evening. Well done staff! Thanks for taking the time to review us and sorry for the tardy reply.

“Nice food, service and location.”
Reviewed November 14, 2013

We had a lovely lunch this week, my wife is disabled and we were able to park right outside. Access is reasonably easy, and the premises are located in the heart of Dawlish, opposite the famous lawn, and among other shops and restaurants.

My wife had a gorgeous salad, presented with three types of houmos, each with different flavours, and beautifully presented, with very fresh ingredients. I opted for the seafood platter, these was smoked salmon, salmon pate, smoked mackerel, prawn Maria rose and calamari. These were beautifully presented with warm crsuty bread, fresh salad garnishes and some different dips and dressings.

Hi. Thanks for your lovely review. We have changed things around a little and just so help other TripAdvisor users, you ate at our restaurant Jack Sprat's. Ten Green Bottles is our gift shop next to Jack Sprat's. The confusion is easy to understand as we used to have a restaurant in the shop in the evenings! Now all dining takes place at Jack Sprat's and Ten Green Bottles is stacked full of lovely gifts. Thanks for eating at Jack Sprat's and for your lovely comments.

“Dawlish Tearoom”
Reviewed June 6, 2013

Visited Dawlish on our way home from Torquay and found a quaint tearoom in the High Street. Never seen one like this before as it was part gift shop. I must say the cream tea was second to none and would recommend it to anyone visiting Dawlish.

Thanks so much for your lovely review. We are trying hard to get people to try our lovely tearoom. I think it confuses people having a gift shop and tearoom all in one shop. So glad you feel it works. We have had lovely feedback from the customers who have tried us. Thanks so much for your review. It really helps so much. We look forward to seeing you again.

“NOT OPEN ON BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY??”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

Made a special visit to this café last bank holiday Monday, only to find it closed!!Was very disappointed as I had read all the great reviews on here.Ended up going to The Old Mill tearoom.Had a great latte, toast and cream tea.
Can't believe it was closed,as there was so much going on in Dawlish on that day, must have lost a lot of potential business!!

Hi. I am so so sorry you were disappointed on Bank Holiday Monday. We always close on a Sunday and Monday so we do not, unfortunately have staff available to open on the bank holiday. We were open on the Sunday of that weekend, as Dawlish was having a special weekend but we were unable to staff the Monday. We do wish you (and all other tripadvisor users) would book as we only have four tables and are often full. I have emailed you direct also to see what we might be able to do to make things up to you. I am sad you rated us as average without visiting us. That is a shame because we are certainly not average. We hope you will book to come and see us again so we can show you how good we can be. Many apologies for your wasted journey.
