Lovely location and nice grounds with outdoor swimming pool. Comfortable lounges. Our room was comfortable and we were pleased we could swap the duvet for proper sheets and a blanket. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Food was reasonable but definitely 3 star, not 4 star.I liked the breakfast sausages particularly. Wonderful ballroom, but poor sound system. Overall our experience was pretty good.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with air conditioning

And what a treat it was, we could not have wished for a better weekend. We were with you for the Summer jazz weekend, & we enjoyed it immensely. Our room was really nice, with a comfortable bed, & a lovely bathroom. I see one of your recent reviews was not happy with the food, but we found the meals excellent, on every occasion, well cooked & attractively served, & so plentiful, we never managed to indulge in the delicious looking cheese platter. The staff at every level, was friendly, & efficient, from booking in, to food service, to the girls who came to clean the room. The gardens were lovely, & all the hanging baskets, congrats: to the groundsmen. We walked down through from the garden, to Dawlish Warren, & had a browse on Saturday, & Sunday while we were out were lucky to see the steam trains roaring through. All in all a wonderful weekend, & I wouldn't hesitate to visit again. Jacki Lewis.

The room was nice and so were the grounds. Breakfast was ok but it would have been nice to have freshly cooked rather than everything from the buffet. Likewise dinner which was mediocre. Nothing fresh for the main course, just a tired buffet with dull, lifeless vegetables.

We didn't like Dawlish Warren (or Dawlish) much but that's not your fault!

We were so fed up we came home a day early.

Hello,
Thank you for your comments, we are glad you liked the hotel and grounds.
We are sorry that you did not like Dawlish and Dawlish Warren, there are many pleasant areas to visit only a little further afield, with Exeter, Torquay, Haldon and Dartmoor all falling within a 20 minute radius of the hotel by car. Teignmouth, Newton Abbot, Torquay, Exeter and Exmouth are all easily accessible by rail as well as bus with stops located close to the hotel.
We use fresh produce wherever practicable for our carvery with vegetables and dairy products in particular being delivered 6 days a week and butchery 3 to 4 times a week often more regularly, the carvery is regularly refreshed during service for both Breakfast and dinner. Also both breakfast and dinner may be ordered direct from the kitchen for many items though this does introduce a delay in service.
We also have a non-carvery snack and light meals menu which is served throughout the hotel from 12.00am until 9.00pm every day.
Kind regards
Mark Rogers
Partner.

Stayed at the Hotel whilst attending a school reunion which was hosted in the Washington Suite. This was not my first stay and therefore did not hesitate to book again when I found out the reunion was being hosted here. This visit was taken with my sister but previous visits have been with my family. As ever the welcome was warm and friendly. We booked a twin room which was situated on the poolside of the Hotel. The room was clean and well maintained. Service in the restaurant and bars are exceptional and nothing is too much trouble for any of the team.....even if you are the last ones up in the wee hours of the morning! The hotel is nestled in lovely grounds and overlooks the sea. It's only a short walk to the beach should you need to take excercise to walk off the cream tea as we did! We had an exceptional stay; a really fun reunion made even better by the Rogers family and their team. Thank you and will be back soon!

Enjoyed a lovely stay at our local hotel for our school reunion. Room was very clean but decor is a little dated, breakfast was ok. Enjoyed a lovely afternoon sat in the garden with old friends but we had to clear away dishes to another table because no one came to clear the table all afternoon. Even when another guest on another table went to ask for this to be done because of the seagulls taking a shine to leftovers. But I have to say this is not at all normal as they are always very good with service and at looking after their guest both staying and day guest having lunch. Maybe we just caught the afternoon staff change over gap of two plus hours. But nothing major to put you off staying at this lovely family fun hotel.

Room Tip: We had a lovely sea view room.looking out over the beautiful Lyme Bay towards Exmouth.

I stayed at the Langstone in June 2014 with my two young daughters (2 and 4) and pensioner mum (74).
The main client group for this hotel is clearly pensioners, the kind of groups & coach trips that do 'tinsel and turkey' - dinner and dance, etc.
This meant that there is good access for people with mobility issues or pushchairs, as well as entertainment if you want it.
Nice play facilities for little ones - a play room with some toys & basic soft play (toddlers/babies only), climbing frames and slides outside for toddlers and older kids, and of course a lovely swimming pool including a splash pool for very young toddlers.

Nice range of rooms - wheelchair suites and singles, as well as family suites. Room 19 which we had is actually three bedrooms (double, twin and single) which share a bathroom, all behind one front door.
Great food, friendly staff. Not cheap, but better value if you book the half board option.

Room Tip: Room 19 is a suite which sleeps up to 5, in three completely seperate rooms - a double, a twin and a...

Hello,
Thank you very much for your kind review, however we should like to point out that we do not predominantly cater for Turkey and Tinsel breaks. In fact we cannot recall hosting any event we have called a Turkey and Tinsel break. We do have more older guests staying with us outside of the school holidays, especially now, with parents not being allowed to take children on holiday at all (sore subject with British family orientated hoteliers) during term time.

During the school holidays we predominantly cater for families with children and indeed at any time out of term time, we present a high proportion of children’s entertainment during school holiday periods. We have many family rooms (most of our rooms are in fact family rooms). We also have the indoor and outdoor play areas, the Indoor and Outdoor Swimming Pools, Tennis Court, Table Tennis, a Snooker Room, a Fitness Room, a Golf Practise area and a Driving Range. We even have an arrangement with our nearest club Dawlish Warren Golf Course for reduced green fees.

Throughout the year we host lots of families some on to the 4th Generation who visit us regularly. We host Birthday Parties, Christenings, Weddings, Golf Societies, Motor Clubs, Ramblers, Cyclists, Dance Holidays including Line Dancing, Ballroom Dance, Latin American and Sequence.

We cater for Conferences, Meetings, Exhibitions, Presentations, AGM’s, Masonic , Rotary and Round Table events and even Hashes (cross country runs).

We present a series of cabaret weekends, Christmas Parties, Christmas Lunches and we are open at Christmas and New Year - Father Christmas has never missed us yet!

Whilst we cannot claim to compete with the facilities of the likes of Center Parcs, and nor do we charge as much, we believe we offer something different it is as you say, “Something for all Ages”.

Thank you once again for your kind words.
Kind Regards
