“Second time this year”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2011

Just returned from our second stay in golden sands this year and can't praise the place enough. Yes we had a power cut for a few hours but this was nothing to do with the park nut a local one off problem that put the whole village out of power for a couple of hours. The team are as happy now as what they have ever been from the friendly waitresses to the helpful reception and the energetic and funny bar team. Yes the chalets are a bit dated from the outside, but inside they are clean and tidy and offer everything you would want and expect. The location is perfect for all the local attractions and activities that Devon has to offer and we'll be back again soon :-)

I for some reason was expecting to stay at the Dawlish Sands again (which is much nearer the amenities i.e pubs, Fast Food & Dawlish Warren Beach) and was surprised that this site was a bit out of the way as i like to use the car only now & again and resent paying car parking charges every day and having a child with a disability the walk back up to the site would have been a too much.
Anyway.. Caravan was okay nice to have heating in the bedrooms to take the chill off now & again, 4 flat pillows for 4 people so please remember to take some of your own.
There is builidng work going on nearby a new Sainsburys so you will experience some niose from around 7 a.m. and in my case a 8 hour power cut due to them cutting through the sites electric cable.
Pool a good temp. and although it is small you can also (weather permitting) swim into the outside pool.
Not much for kids to do except the Amusement arcade / Swimming.
The chalets / Appts. looked dreadful from the outside i think they could do with being knocked down and failing that can't they at least paint the windows and clean the back of the buildings, i felt like asking if they are better inside then they look but thought better of it.
Overall i can see why people might like this site as it is probably quieter (when Sainsbury's gets finished) then some of the other sites.

This was our second visit and we have booked again for October 2011 and May 2012. The chalets are slightly dated, but they are clean and tidy. They are a decent size and housed 5 of us for 7 nights brilliantly. The team of 2011 have all been lovely, making a real effort to include all the children in their loopy's fun time, they focus on having fun and not pushing the kids into pestering to buy mascots/toys. Excellent value for money and can't wait to go back (even with the 6.5 hour drive).
If you are looking for a competatively priced, family holiday I would recommend Golden Sands Dawlish every time!

Just back from a week at Golden Sands Holiday Park, Dawlish, this is our 2nd visit.

The entrance to the park could do with a make over as not too appealing and can easily be missed. However, once inside........................ the caravans are all clean, tidy and well equipped, not stayed in any of the chalets so cannot comment on them. There is also the option to do half board if you're feeling lazy and don't want to cook yourself.

The restaurant and amusement arcade are both good.

Shop is reasonably priced and well stocked.

Staff were extremely helpful on both visits.

Swimming pool area again very well maintained and clean changing rooms, lockers are available if you need them. Staff always around for safety reasons. Suitable of all ages and abilities.

There is also a well equipped laundrette and a children's play area.

Entertainment venue is clean, tidy and welcoming, and the bar staff are friendly. Food is available throughout the evening is not eating in the restaurant. You can play link up bingo if you fancy your chances, you play against other Park Holidays Parks and the money can be quite good. As for the entertainment itself..... PURE MAGIC! Something different to watch every night, and even an external act once a week. The entertainment crew this year are every bit as good as last year's, very friendly, nothing too much trouble, love to get the audience involved, even organising surprises for birthdays. Although my kids are all grown up the entertainment staff are brilliant with the little ones and provide a range of activities for them throught the day and early evening.

The park is a great base to visit different places in teh area, which is what we have done on the last two visits and will do so again when we go back in October for another week of great fun and frolics.

I took my family to golden sands holiday resort in dawlish devon. This was my first u.k holiday in years and i have to say it was better then going to egypt, i found places we visited in devon were freindly and easy to get to even using local buses as i don't drive. At golden sands the entertainment staff were excellent every day there was entertainment for the children and night was different shows, i was amazed how hard they worked and said i would go back just to see them if nothing else, i been back home now 2 days and all i want to do is go back.

We have just returned from Golden Sands, and I must admit I was a bit dubious having read the reviews, BUT, we had a really lovely time. Yes, the entrance lacks kerb appeal (especially given that the park at the top of the road has a nice entrance and we nearly drove in there by mistake) but the park itself is well looked after and our caravan was absolutely spotless. We were lucky enough to be at the back of the park, which was nice and quiet. We were not bothered by the entertainment and bar etc, just wanted a cheap place to stay and explore the area, and this was fine. Staff were also friendly and helpful. Yes the other accommodation does resemble somewhere that you could be sent at her majestys pleasure and I might have been a bit miffed to get one of these, but can't fault the caravan at all. My one criticism is that the childrens play area is broken, and they would do better to just remove it all together, as it is very hard explaining to a two year old that they can't go on it, when they can see it.

Reading the reviews before we left me & my partner were a bit hesitant in what we were going to turn up to.
What we would like to know is what anyone has to moan about it was the best £110 we had spent.
We left feeling like we owed them more money as the caravan we stayed in was excellent it looked as though no one had stayed in the caravan before it had everything we needed from beds, bedding & linen.
Everything you need to in the kitchen cutlery, pans, plates, wine glasses, tumblers and it all looked brand new spanking clean not a single finger print or smudge on anything
Basically it had everything; it was like home from home.
The staff were excellent, one lady in particular Angie who was the receptionist so helpful so polite if I needed anything I know I could ask her and she was so happy to help and such a people person (Highly recommend)
The entertainment is everything you need for a real British holiday cheesy, funny, fun, and cheerful.
The site was immaculate, for a dog friendly park there was not a single sight of dog mess, not a single bit of rubbish anywhere the roads were all clear and well lit the grass was cut often. It was also lovely to see the ducks walking around the sight and also the rabbits.
We even looked into the holiday homes as we enjoyed it so much.
We have highly recommended golden sands to everyone we have come across

Room Tip: We had silver caravan and it was diamond standard.
