“This is deep Devon”
Reviewed March 20, 2016 for a stay in March 2016

While close to Widecombe this is deep Devon, in the most beautiful part of the Southern Moor. The cottage is charming and remarkably well equipped (now with good internet access) and the walks from the doorstep are as good as its gets. The bed is generous in width if a little unforgiving in hardness and the log burner a joy. Be warned, Devon has some lanes that are narrow, some that are very rough and some that have very hard stone walls on both sides. The approach to this cottage is all three! But don't be put off, this is a very lovely place.

“Small but perfectly formed.”
Reviewed January 17, 2016 for a stay in January 2016

Great place with everything you need for a get away from it all holiday. Tastefully decorated together with quality bed linen and towels. The situation was idyllic with stunning scenery although the roads are not for the faint hearted. The owners were happy to help with any queries and supplied more than enough logs for us. Would definitely return.

“Beautifully situated”
Reviewed October 24, 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Very beautiful area with loads of walks nearby. It is a well equipped comfortable cottage and cosy fire. Two extra bits would have made it five star and that would be the addition of a small microwave and a small portable FM/LW radio (we could pick up a good signal in the car parked outside).

“A perfect place to explore Dartmoor”
Reviewed June 30, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

A beautifully designed dwelling, situated in a peaceful valley. It contains everything you will need and more. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful, even lending a map as I had left mine at home. You can walk straight from the door or there are many parking places on the moor to start a walk from. There are small towns within a short drive to stock up with groceries and some good pubs in the area too. A perfect getaway.

“Comfortable, amazing location, but...”
Reviewed June 23, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We stayed at Yonder Shippon in April. The location is stunning, and the Shippon is extremely clean, comfortable and ideally located for walking or simply enjoying the area.

However, the owners were away abroad while we were staying there, and although we are very self sufficient, we were concerned as we had no contact in case of a problem with the property. As it is in an isolated location with no phone signal to speak of, this could have been a problem in an emergency. Fortunately we met the gentleman who was feeding the animals, so at least had an idea where to go if necessary. Plus, the two delightful dogs, who were very friendly, were also rather noisy morning and evening, with lots of barking. This was a shame, as we had booked primarily for the peace and quiet.

“Beautiful. Isolated. Perfect ”
Reviewed February 21, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

We stayed here for Valentines weekend and it was just wonderful. The Shippon is warm and cosy - the lovely log burner and additional heaters ensuring we were toasty. The bed was huge and really comfortable. The shower was lovely. Good storage and fully stocked kitchen.
It was so quiet and isolated which was perfect. The owners are closeby if needed but overall left us to ourselves which was lovely. Widdecombe in the moor is only a short walk away and has a couple of great pubs and a really beautiful gift shop now full of local art and crafts. Thoroughly recommend staying here, if you want a place far away from hustle and bustle then this is ideal. We will be returning in the summer.
