This hotel has the perfect approach to dogs and their owners, we were made to feel very relaxing with our 2 dogs which made the stay relaxing. We did have a few issues with dinner each night, but Alan the restaurant manager and the hotel manager were very good about putting things right and gave us complimentary drinks to make up for other issues. We did have a few problems with the water pressure in the shower, but then thats the price you pay for the location i feel.
All in all would go back and definielt recommend for dog owners

This is a small Country House Hotel where the staff do their best you make you feel welcome, comfortable and at home.
The rooms that I have stayed in (on two visits) were spacious and delighful.
The food is absolutely excellent.
And if you bring your dogs they are very welcome and greeted as well as you are.
Did I mention the food ? Superb.

We've stayed here twice and both times the staff could not have been more welcoming. The hotel is Dog Welcoming rather than the so called 'dog friendly'. However, the most important factor is that the food is excellent whether eating in the comfortable bar/lounge or in the dining room. Spend a happy afternoon sitting in the garden watching the house martins swooping in and out and if it's cold outside, no problem, there's roaring fires. Right in the middle of the moor, this is an excellent location for wandering or serious walkers. We'll be back again.

Firstly - why is Prince Hall listed as a B&B/Inn when it is a full service hotel - and a good one. We booked a one night stay at the weekend (although the policy is a 2 night minimum they will sensibly change this close to the date). We received apologies that our room only overlooked the grounds and not the moor but it was a large comfortable room with a perfectly adequate bathroom. The property is old and the rooms reflect this with individual quirks. They are however quiet, warm and comfortable. Staff were helpful and efficient and the dinner was very good with locally sourced food and a sensible wine list.
The location is great for walking and exploring the moor.
One thing to note - the hotel is very popular with dog owners and if you are allergic to them it may be worth exploring options with the owner (I don't know if they designate some rooms as pet free).

Room Tip: Honest descriptions on website and when talking to the owner on booking.

As a surprise for my husbands 40th birthday, i booked a weekend stay in the 'Shepherds Hut'. What a wonderful experience!!! Even though we were running late to book in due to horrendous weather conditions on our journey down to Dartmoor, the staff of Prince Hall not only made us feel totally welcome but went out of their way to make sure we had everything we wanted how we might want it. Prince Hall is a very personable hotel in a stunning location with exceptional dining that would not be out of place in some exclusive restaurants in london.
I look forward to a return trip to the gorgeous Shepherds Hut and would recommend that anyone that yearns for a break to a breathtaking area with a touch of understated luxury, look to Prince Hall Hotel

Room Tip: look to the Shepherds Hut
