2 couples running the hotel who were all really friendly and flexible when we arrived a bit later than planned with our toddler. Cosy bar out the back, then delicious steak for dinner. Modern comfy bedrooms with fantastic sunrise over dartmoor. Fresh fruit for breakfast, we all enjoyed it, thank you.

We recently spent three nights at this location and generally things were okay - the room had a nice view of the moors and was sufficiently spacious. The double bed in the beardown room was in dire need of a new mattress - we took turns sleeping in it as the noise every time you turned would wake you up. The other thing that affected the quality of our stay was the thin wall - the sounds carries through the walls so you feel like you are sharing your room with your next door neighbors. There is a nice sitting area that allows you to gauze out onto the moors in all of their glory and a nice kettle for tea. Breakfast was fine - a nice fruit display and assorted cereals and juices and then variations on eggs, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms and toasts. Our overall impression was that the place had a bit of a dormitory feel hence our overall rating.

Cherrybrook has a great location in the middle of Dartmoor - good walks from the door (maps provided) and nearby. We stayed 4 nights in the Bellever Room at the front, very comfortable bed and decent space in the room (nice to have chairs with a view, tea and biscuits).
The quality and choice of food is really good here, there is an ex-restaurant background in the kitchen and it shows in the menus (wide choice and interesting - probably too wide for their own good given the limited covers), quality of the ingredients and of the cooking. It's a high point and we probably did not lose any weight thanks to big breakfasts and dinners - despite the moorland walking.
Good standards. Maybe some tea-lights on the table would add a bit more atmosphere in the dining room.

Tried out the 3 bed room. Single bed lovely. Think the double needs a diff mattress evertime we rolled over the squeeky mattress disturbed my sleep. Breakfast consists of juice, cereal and a full breakfast, wasnt sure what this comprised of at first but very filling. Eve meal if you have one is very well cooked and v tasty but the alcohol can cost a fair bit. The rooms were not the warmest but it was explained that they hadnt realised that the heating hadnt come back on. We both tried a shower but there wasnt enough hot water after my husband had his first. Was not at all happy about this. I hate being cold. The second night was more successfull. My daughter had first shower then me and it was still hot. Went out for eve meal second night into Princetown. Overall lovely people and a v nice stay.

We arrived in the dark on a blustery October night. We were immediately made very welcome and settled in to our room. We were invited into the lounge/bar for drinks whilst choosing from a wonderfully tempting menu. I was particularly pleased with the choice of non-alcoholic drinks available. Our meal was excellent with more than adequate portions of superbly well cooked and presented homely food of the highest quality. Our room was well appointed, clean and also superbly presented. Following a very peaceful nights sleep the morning views were fantastic, as was the cooked breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts and we felt very at home in the peaceful, relaxed and comfortable surroundings. In short everything brilliant. A definite yes for another escape!

Room Tip: Check the website pictures and choose to suit your needs. Some of the views are fantastic.
