Went in for lunch on New Years day and by the time food arrived thought it was tea.Service was appalling, they had a lot of customers who left before orders taken, some had been waiting half an hour just for an order to be taken.Others were cancelling their orders and leaving as they had been waiting for up to an hour, Staff would walk by customers without taking orders and several people including my wife had items missing when their order arrived. A great pity as premises were clean, food when it eventually arrived was hot and good quality with a good helping and well priced. In the time we were their they lost out on quite a bit of income just through lack of organisation, staff badly in need of traing as in front of house it was a shambles, would not go back again and judging by several other customers comments neither will they

Every year the Princetown Womens Institute provide a free Christmas Lunch for all OAP's living in the parish. This year they chose Lords of Princetown to host the lunch. Previous years had been held in the Plume of Doom (sorry Plume of Feathers) just up the road where, quite frankly, the accommodation was limited and the quality of the meal provided had been deteriorating. The W.I. raise money all year with some help from local businesses to fund the 2 course lunch, a glass or two of wine with mince pies and tea or coffee after; and a free raffle. This year, the first at Lords, one couldn't fault the food, everything was cooked to perfection and there was more than enough to feed about 100 or more OAP's. The wine was served by the neighbourhood police and the vicar led the carols interspersed with his inimitable and occasionally slightly risque, Christmas Cracker jokes.
I'm looking forward to bring invited next year, hopefully in Lords.
If you are on Dartmoor and near Princetown, I recommend you call in to Lords and try the Devon Cream Tea. Yummy!

What a surprise! We popped in for a hot drink & a sandwich and ended up having a roast.
It's a large open cafe with lots of seating with table service. The staff are friendly and the place is spotlessly clean. There is an extensive menu covering all tastes from cakes, light lunches to full on three course meals.

I stopped off in Princetown for lunch & went into Lords. Good choice.
Lovely, light, airy restaurant. Very spacious, with plenty of room between tables so not squashed against the people behind you or next to you. Really clean & welcoming.
The staff were very friendly & helpful and the food was really good. A varied menu to suit all tastes & quite a varied menu for vegitarians as well.
There are lovely views across the moor from the tables next to the window at the back of the restaurant.
With a walk-through to a great little gift shop next door.
Really happy to recommend Lords & will definatly re-visit myself.

Arguably the best cream teas in Devon, with fabulous home-made scones and proper tea in a pot. None of your tea-bag-tied-to-the-handle rubbish here - at Lords they do it like it should be done, and it's WONDERFUL, especially if you've been walking on the moor.

They also do high teas, I noticed. I bet they're good too.

They have a gift shop next door, where you can buy souvenirs, postcards, etc, and there's a bus stop on the road outside, which is convenient.
