Bought a voucher earlier in the year for a tour and wine tasting visit. Went today, perfect weather and a lovely setting. The owners really know their stuff and Hilary gave an interesting and often amusing talk and answered all questions easily. The wine was lovely and we purchased a few bottlers. My only criticism is we would have liked to have sampled some more on the visit other than the prescribed 3.

We came across Eastcott Vineyard whilst looking for a cottage to stay near Dartmoor. We received a warm welcome from Hilary, the owner (and a complimentary bottle of their own, very nice, white wine). The cottage was lovely, very clean, modern and well-equipped. It is a few miles North of Okehampton, down some narrow lanes. Very quiet and peaceful.
Whilst there, we took the wine tour which was very interesting and informative. We learned about how the vines were grown and then how the grapes are turned into wine, and sparkling wine.
If you consider staying at the vineyard, book with them directly (cheaper). We took our bikes and cycled the Granite Way. This goes from the station in Okehampton alongside the old railway track. Beautiful views, gentle cycling, no cars! Just friendly cyclists. Also visit Hatherleigh, farmers market on Tuesday and some nice restaurants.

Our son and daughter in law took my husband and I on this vineyard tour, we have been on many tours like this before and were a bit blase about it. However, we were in for a treat.... Hilary the owner took our tour and she was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable we found out so much more than we expected, we now know the difference between British and English wines, not fair to tell you , you should take the tour and find out. Hilary and her husband Richard have set up this business, they plant, pick, ferment, and bottle on the premises, and they make sure you have a really enjoyable time with them and the wine was really good too, prices were competitive with other vineyards we have visited, and they didn't skimp on how many wines you got to taste. they do cellar door sales and also online if you prefer , they also offer holiday cottages and the walks and scenery around the area the vineyard is set in is really beautiful. sat/nav info = EX20 3PT. web site www.eastcottvineyard.co.uk , Telephone 01837 811012 and they were commended in the 2013 Tourism Awards, what more can you ask for when you visit Devon, we loved it.

Had a gift purchased for me to visit a vineyard. We chose Eastcott as we were going to Devon on holiday and so we booked in advance.
It was the most interesting tour and we learnt loads. Hilary is very passionate about her business and with every reason to be proud of the Vineyard and the wine she produces.

The vineyard is owned and managed by a husband and wife team and you can see from the tour how hard this business is.

They have won prizes for their sparkling wine, and by the tasters at the end of the tour we can understand why. English wine at its best. It certainly beats some other famous UK wines I have tasted in the past.

we look forward to drinking more of your wine in the near future.
