This property is now no longer a B & B, but is available as a holiday letting on a self catering basis.
The site comprises a large 5 bedroomed house with adjoining annex and adjacent house where the owners reside. Each of the five bedrooms is en-suite although if I recall correctly, only two of the bathrooms have baths, the remainder being equipped with shower, bath and toilet only. There is a seperate w/c downstairs.
The building is attractive, having a thatched roof to the front and traditional timber sash windows. There is a large inglenook fireplace to the main reception room and a second wood burner in the adjacent smaller living room. A large dining room, spacious and well equipped kitchen and a utility room are also provided. Additionally there is a useful boot room which at the time of my stay contained a table football game.
The Property is well decorated throughout in tasteful neutral colours and is very comfortably furnished. The beds in particular were of a very good standard and offered an extremely comfortable nights sleep.
The location is extremely convenient for the moors and is only a short drive from okehampton where there is access to the granite way cycle route.
The property is a little isolated and I suspect in severe weather may be difficult to access - the lower part of the drive is very steep. There are also steps down from the parking area, so this is probably not well suited to those with mobility problems.
The site is also bordered by farmland and there is a fair amount of noise from animals in the nearby fields. Expect to wake to be lulled off to sleep by the sound of sheep and wake to the crowing of cockerels in the morning!
The owners were extremely helpful and welcoming, attending to a broken fridge handle immediately and offering friendly advice without being intrusive.
All in all a very relaxing stay in a beautiful and tranquil setting. Recommended
