We popped in last weekend for a sunny Sunday lunch - and grabbed one of the tables outside. NB: if you do want a table outside on a Sunday, I think you might be out of luck if you arrive after 12.30pm!

We just fancied a nibble so shared the hummus plate and gravidlax plate between us, over a glass or two and it was just perfect!

For those with dogs (as we do) they are very welcome outside, and in the bar on the right hand side as you go in, but quite understandably the other areas are dog free - it's all clearly signed with ticks and crosses above the doors!

Visited twice when we were staying in nearby Bovey Tracey. A warm welcome awaited us, delicious home cooked food and a congenial atmosphere made it a pleasure to visit. Our four year old daughter loved the hand made beef burger with ciabatta bread bun ( a change from usual frozen pub food offerings for children!) We enjoyed our meals and I was pleasantly surprised by the vegetarian choices. A pleasant and relaxing pub to visit with children or without!

What a delightful local public house, excellent range of local ales, splendid service in a wonderful English Country Pub. We were made more than welcome, even tho' we did not arrive till late and only 20 minutes or so before the food finished. We ordered the Beef and Lamb "Sunday" Roasts and even tho it was late in the day the food was excellent, the Beef was to die for and the veg was so fresh, it was without a doubt the best Sunday Roast we have had in years.......We would highly recommend this wonderful establishment......Not only was the food excellent but it was very reasonably priced too. We will be going again, already looking forward to enjoying the hospitality shown to us by all the staff and partaking in more well presented enjoyable food.

Hvaing arrived one and half hours late for our booked table ( we had phoned the landlord to update him we were lost on our walk !) we received a friendly and personal welcome , and arriving at 3.30 meant it was actually a relief for the landlord as the pub had been so busy at lunchtime.

I can see why...............

The sun was shining, the thatched pub looked inviting , the atmosphere great and the food and drink excellent.

I could not do justice to a large meal but had the pea and fennel soup and a baked banana cheeesecake.Other party members had the ceasar salad, hummus and spare ribs. All lived up , and even exceeded, the landlords recommendations and we came away feeling we had found a pub serving good quality food at a reasonable price.- and all freshly prepared.

There is a new dining area at the back of the pub which looked inviting but as we had on walking boots we stayed in the front by the bar.

It is evident that this landlord takes pride in his pub , and rightly so

Definitely want to go back - but won't get lost this time.......in fact may forget the 'walk 'part !!!
