“Big garden centre; unmemorable food”

Description: Ample references and entries on the search engines. This is the biggest and busiest garden centre in South Devon and has been extended over twenty years to include a vast leisure shop with a big and very well used restaurant cafe used especially by families and older people. It has become a destination in itself and has a good name for fresh local produce and home baking. Very surprised it is not already in the Tripadvisor food listings. I recommend it.

“Big garden centre; unmemorable food”
Reviewed March 18, 2014

Endsleigh is a big and modern garden centre with extensive indoor and outdoor display areas but, basically, it is just another garden centre. We had lunch there and it offered standard but unimaginative garden centre fare. Baked potatoes were precooked and kept warm under a halogen lamp, which made the skins soggy and tough rather than crisp. The eating area was noisy and seemed full of uncontrolled children. OK if you want to look at plants and all the other usual garden centre trappings, but otherwise unexceptional.

“Average breakfast but nice cuppa”
Reviewed February 23, 2014 via mobile

Average only it seems that restaurants in Devon garden centres could learn a a bit from their neighbours in Somerset, whilst the food was edible it was apart from the egg lukewarm and ingredients bacon, sausage baked beans appeared to be ordinary catering standard . Cup of tea the best bit.most of the store appeared to be a gift shop, but that's normal nowadays so I always go to specialist nurseries or buy on line for my seeds and plants

“Good for a rainy day”
Reviewed February 22, 2014

Ivybridge is a fairly dull commuter town popular with professionals travelling to work in Plymouth and only really notable for its location on the southern tip of Dartmoor. There is not much to recommend it apart from that so Endsleigh does stand out somewhat. It is an extremely large establishment offering just about everything to do with plants, gardens, conservatories and suchlike. There are also pet, clothing, toy and home sections as well as a large airy cafe. The latter is especially popular, offering a pleasant, airy location and decent meals and snacks. Its large cheese scones are a personal favourite. As for the rest of the centre, it does offer a good range of products but many are just as overpriced as at most other major garden centres. Enjoy looking at the fancy jars of preserves and suchlike, but then drive along the road to Tesco and buy something similar for half the price. One major factor in Endsleigh's favour is that it provides a good refuge when bad weather strikes, being in the midst of an area where most attractions are outdoor ones. Children will especially enjoy visiting the pet section to look at everything from goldfish and gerbils to lizards and bird eating spiders.
