“Perfect place to un-wind”
Reviewed November 9, 2012

We have just come back from a 4 night break from this park, and how impressed was I.
We originally went here some 10 years ago as campers, but when we tried to re-book the following year we were told that they had no facilities for tourers any more, which was a real shame as it was nice then.Well I have wanted to return for ages and we booked a 6 berth 'A' frame lodge and it was fantastic,so relaxing and beautifully quiet. The lodge had everything we needed, but I think next time I may get 1 with a hot tub.The Club was brilliant as was the free 30 minute firework display. The facilities look really good,i.e Gym,indoor pool & the spa my wife really enjoyed. The restaurant did a good meal and the bars were not too badly priced.
I shall look forward to my next visit and it won't take 10 years!

Wow, what a place....Great value for money.... We stayed in 'Brambles 16', which had a top tub and an amazing kitchen. The lodge was VERY clean, and VERY well appointed.

The Gym is good, and they also offer classes such as Spin and Kettlebell.

If you are an 'active family'...this place is a must....!!!!!

Only one negative....The bed was too short....and I'm only 5'10''....!!!!!!

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review on Finlake. We are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. We are sorry that you found the beds short. I dont know what size of lodge you stayed in, however all superior and woodland lodges have standard sized beds. The country lodges as they are smaller in size have smaller beds.
We hope that despite this we will have the pleasure of your company again in the future.

Family of six (two adult and 4 kids aged 4-13).
Last year we had a really good break at Centre Parc Longleat. When looking this year the prices including activities had become out of range.
Finlakes, however, is a very realistic price with very affordable activities.
We booked a basic odge for six from the Woodland View part of the site. The accomodation was a good size and perfectly located for all activities on site.
On arrival we had a warm welcome and freely offered advice for good places to visit.
Our lodge was reasonably clean, although a few things appeared to be left by the previous occupants. The furnishings were of a reasonable quality and there was a well equiped kitchen, which was a welcome relief. We had a good TV and DVD player for relaxing when the kids were not doing activities and a reasonable stereo. The fridge/freezer was quite large. All rooms had radiators and stayed warm despite the british weather.
Each room had plenty of storage so we could unpack our clothes.

We chose the site because of the 'go active' options and I must say I was pleasantly surprised how well the activities were run. We tried the Archery, Canoes and Football. The kids enjoyed each activity tremendously and the staff were very competent. Next time we will be trying the climbing too! All the prices were very reasonable. We managed to fit in a lot of walking, cycling, swimming, the on site activities, a well run Halloween event and some well earned rest time too. It all went rather quickly though. Each evening we did a glow stick hunt which the kids loved.

The on site shop provides a very good standard of food, but is rather expensive for all your needs, however, there is a 24hr Tesco only 5 miles down the road along with a lot of other useful stores.

Whilst on this visit we also visited Trago Mills - I have submitted a separate review. This was a good value day out. Otherwise we stayed on site for the entire visit.

We are looking forward to returning next year!!!

This is the 5th time we have stayed at Finlake - each time in Lodge 52. In our opinion it is perfectly located as when you sit in the hot tub, all you can see is Exmoor - beautiful.

The lodge is very clean and obviously well maintained by its owners who have added extras over the few years that we have been coming here, such as shelving in the kitchen and storage in the bathroom. It is well maintained on the outside too and we can see that is has been painted so that it always looks fresh and of an excellent standard. The lodge is very clean and any minor issues such as missing chopping boards or faulty light bulbs are swiftly sorted with a quick call to reception. My little boy have an accident at night this visit which resulted in us needing fresh bedding - the matter was dealt with very sensitively and quickly.

The lodge feels spacious so we often have a couple of 'lazy' days when we are just happy to mooch around the lodge, use the hot tubs, watch films etc and we don't feel as though we are on top of each other.

The pool is great and the kids loved the outdoor pool which is now heated! The restaurant and bar are fab - lovely food and very friendly, smiley staff - a special mention to Jess and Stephen who are always so happy and helpful, A pet hate of mine is carveries - I have never liked them and refuse to eat them BUT Finlake's carvery is the best and the only one I will eat!

There is so much to do in the surrounding areas and we can recommend Pennywell Farm, Crealy, Dinosaur World in Torquay and Haldon Forest. However, as I mentioned earlier, on our lazier days, the swimming pool, park and surrounding woodland are enough to occupy our two children and we are looking forward to the day when they are old enough to join in some of the organised activities that Finlake provide.

We really enjoyed the fireworks this year - they were very well organised with regular announcements to keep people up to date with what was happening over the course of the evening. The fairground was lovely and the hog roast yummy! The fireworks were a real treat too!

The shop is well stocked with essentials (and some not so essential treats!) and Tesco do deliver so that is really useful.

We love it here - we always have a really relaxing time and can totally unwind. We feel as though we are up in the trees and the views are breathtaking. We always get excited about coming here and can't wait for our next visit!

Room Tip: Go for Lodge 52!

We stayed at Finlake from Monday 29th october till Friday 2nd November in a Deluxe Woodland lodge myself, my husband, 7 yr old daughter and dog. We arrived at Finlake at 10 o'clock in the morning after a 3 hour drive from London we went straight to reception where they took my mobile number and said they would call me if our lodge was ready before 4oclock. We then went off and enjoyed walks around the park and visited the play area we booked our Go Active activities and then had a beautiful seafood platter lunch at the The Retreat restaurant and at 2 o'clock we had a call saying we could check in early they were very informative and helpful at reception. The lodge was amazing the hot tub and sauna was a real luxury and the facilities and cleaniness in the lodge was to a high standard. The farm shop was great we got lots of lovely treats and the staff were very friendly and helpful. My daughter did activities which were great the leisure staff were friendly and very good at their jobs always remembering my daughters name and making a point to say hello to her when passing. We had lunch twice & breakfast at The Retreat and a takeaway too which was lovely with happy staff and takeaways such a great idea. We got involved in the Halloween celebrations pumpkin carving, disco, funfair which were all reasonably priced and an impressive fireworks display. We also recommend the horse riding and a trip to Becky Falls. It was brill and we are going to arrange to come back next year same time and lodge but with more family members and hopefully do more activities. It's been a relaxing but super fun holiday!!!!
