We had thought to try the new Phoenix restaurant but left it too late to book.
In the past we have eaten at the Bishop Lacy, but their latest food hygiene rating is very poor, so we ended up at the White Hart, which I think has only recently started serving food.
The barman (landlord?) knew his beers and the two Butcombe real ales, Rare Breed and Haka (not the usual ones you see from Butcombe) were well kept.
We enjoyed attentive service from him and the lady chef, one of us had the rump (a very nice piece of steak) and three of us had tapas. All were very good.
Then we tried the four available deserts between us, again, all were above normal pub standard.
We really enjoyed our time in this pub and it deserves to do well.
We will certainly eat there again.
Give it a try.
