A nice climbing centre in Buckfastleigh.
Not far from the main A38 route, or the South Devon Steam Railway.
About 30 minutes drive from Exeter, the same from Plymouth or Torbay area.
Has a café and chill out area with sofas (for the parents) whilst the children do climbing, bouldering and abseiling.
The centre runs regular sessions when they teach the kids, with a good emphasis on safety. These are shown on the website (try climb) or kids clubs (little lizards).
But if you want to go at another time, just call them: if there is an instructor available (there usually seems to be) they will arrange something for you.
Great for burning off some energy, especially on a rainy day!
Really helps to build the kids confidence, so that when they go on school trips they are confident to try outdoor climbing and other more adventurous activities.
The prices are reasonable, and they have climbing harnesses and gear you can rent, as well as climbing shoes.
Give it a go and see what you think. They will also let you register / join and belay the kids after they have checked that you know what you are doing.
