Visited here last friday after tramping over Hound Tor and then driving around Bovey looking for somewhere to eat. N.B. Theres a small car park at the back. The place was clean and welcoming and the food was lovely - my filled baguette came with side salad (including sttawberries) and crisps. Good Latte as well. Very jovial owner came round to check on all customers. Well done all round.

Easter Monday lunch was extremely busy but this restaurant operates like clockwork with the friendly, helpful (mainly mature) staff flitting efficiently between tables overseen by a very jovial gentleman. All members of our party ( including 2 under 12's) thoroughly enjoyed the experience, as obviously did all the other customers.
The food, though with one foot firmly in the '60s (crab salad with strawberries), was well prepared, with ample portions that made one smile. All added to a lovely family meal. Will be back.

We have been coming here since this venue opened in its current position. It is clean, friendly, accessible, helpful and has yet to serve up a duff meal! The hours are wonderful so after a morning of gardening you can be sure that around two or three, you can be sure of a wonderfully hot late lunch / early supper. The staff have been there ages. That says a lot about the bosses. Love it!

After a long walk over Dartmoor we both looked forward to a lovely roast dinner at the Brookside Tea rooms.
How disappointed we were to become.
Although the service was first class the food certainly was not.
We both ordered the Beef roast dinner and each expected a hearty meal. Like so many restaurants these days, what we were given was completely unacceptable in terms of size and quality when asking £8.25 each.
What little Beef there was, was dry and curled at the edges and the accompanying bowl of vegetables was barely enough for one let alone two persons to share. We hate to think what was served as the cheaper Small roast dinner. What does a few more roast potatoes cost to you or a few more vegetables to fill the plate? As I always say " if you can see the bottom of the plate when it is served then there isn't enough food upon it". If you want to fill your tables then you must fill your plates. We will not return.
