Owner description: Located in the Dartmoor National Park the River Dart Country Park has an award winning campsite and is open daily from Easter to the end of September for fun and adventurous holidays and days out for families.Set in 90 acres, with lakes, parkland and woods with the majestic River Dart flowing through the Park it is the ideal place to stay or visit. Children can run and play on our Pirate Ship lake and Adventure Playgrounds and our on-site facilities cater for everyone. The Old Sawmill cafe offers a great range of food so mum can also have a break and our onsite shop stocks items for your BBQ! B&B accommodation is also available throughout the year and don't forget all guests have free access to the extensive adventure playgrounds for the duration of their stay. For those seeking more adrenalin fuelled fun there I sour Dare Devil activities including water zorbs, high ropes course, canoeing and kayaking - instructor lead activities - extra cost. Theres an adventure around every corner!

Another amazing holiday ar River Dart, I adore this campsite-its beautiful, spotlessly clean, staff are always friendly and the kids love it. This was our fourth annual stay at the park, each time we leave we book for the following year and add an extra day. Looking forward to next year!

Plenty of activities for the children, to keep them occupied. Fantastic place on a sunny day. I only did a day trip however the camping facilities looked very good.

This is an ideal place, and virtually unique, for a wedding or similar event. At the end of August my son got married here. We had exclusive use of the main house and coach house. It meant that the immediate family, including the bride and groom, could stay in the best bedrooms in the main house, other guests could stay in the secondary rooms and rooms in the coach house, whilst young friends or family could stay on the touring caravan and camping site. With exclusive use it’s like you are Lord and Lady of the Manor holding the special event for a family member (Downton Abbey fashion!).
The house is very clean, has excellent rooms suitable for such events and very helpful and diligent staff. The food and service was excellent. If guests are staying before or after the main event and not eating with you in the main house the detached Country Park restaurant nearby serves food from early morning to 9.00pm and serves drinks, including beer etc to 11.00pm.
There were a considerable number of children at my son’s wedding but there was no fear of annoying other guests as there would be if you were in a traditional venue where there would be other guests nothing to do with your event.
Of particular note is the adventure playground where parents will find plenty to entertain their children and tire them out. There are plenty of walks in the lovely grounds for those wanting to walk off their wedding breakfast.
For guests not staying on site there are many other places nearby to stay so that’s not a problem.
I can’t recommend this venue too much; perfect for what we wanted it for.

We were a little worried about going after the Noro Virus outbreak. Well we should not have worried, the site was spotless, lovely facilities. We found the staff cheerful and helpful. Had two good meals in the onsite cafe bistro. The park and play area beautiful lots to do for the whole family.

Just spent 4 nights camping and had a great time, even though the weather tried to spoil it! We camped on pitch 121 which was a great spot. Close to the amenties block and to the adventure playground and lake. All the staff were really friendly and everywhere was kept clean.
The village of Ashburton is definately worth a visit - great butchers, deli, sweet shop and a well stocked co-op. We didn't find the onsite shop very reasonable however we enjoyed the carvery in the Sawmill.
Will definitly consider coming here again.
