Im utterly gobsmacked that somebody has taken the time to review The Dartmoor Lodge so badly just by 'looking for a wedding venue'. I can understand it if the service you received inside the venue was poor or that your 'tea' wasn't brewed quite right for you. But to comment on a wedding venue just by looking around the area and giving it such a silly review is awful.
Jeopardising this business future bookings because the customers vehicles weren't BMWs or Audis is quite frankly reckless, it is not the hotels fault that their paying guests have lorries.
If you don't like the look of the venue, move on. Don't comment if you have never experienced a wedding here, or had a meal or done anything other than have a cup of tea.
The owners are hardworking, and organise the best weddings in the area. FACT. Their gardens and outdoor ceremonies are beautiful and all the staff work so hard to give couples exactly what they always dreamt of.
If you don't like the look of a restaurant, or a bar...you move on. If you have a bad meal or hotel experience inside then you have the right to flag this up with the business. Go and view wedding venues with no character, conveyor belt wedding packages and personality-less staff...Just so you can have no lorries in the car park.

We had our wedding at the dartmoor lodge and with the full support of Diane and Trevor and the full team at the lodge it was a day we will never forget ! With a live band and horse and carriage also with my decision to have fish in bowls as our centre pieces we had there support 100% ! We had the rooms booked for 2 nights which we filled with friends and family and the food , service was faultless and I would recommend this as a wedding venue to anybody xx

The room was okay for the price we paid,it was very clean and provides the basics we needed. A pet hate of mine is leaving water in the kettle which there was water left in which is a no no! I always feel they should put more milk in the room also from the room we stayed in to the reception to ask for more was quite a way. The bed was on wheels so everytime we moved the bed moved away from headboard which was very annoying. The toilet was very loud when flushed which in the night wasn't good. Although the service was excellent and the evening food was only satisfactory,on the ither hand the breakfast was excellent. Being near the motorway did not affect our sleep at all in fact we barely heard it.

We have been searching the area for a weding venue for our daughter as she would like Dartmoor area. We heard that the Dartmoor Lodge is very nice so we took a look. The first things we saw were 3 old lorries in the car park that seemed to be road mending. They look as if they live there and then was an old car with flat tires and another old car half coverd up with a sheet. We thouggt we would look inside anyway and inside it was clean noisey and the first desk we got to was old and scrufy. Staff were friendly and we had tea and left. Not were we would want a family weding.

Stayed for one night as I was away on business. The room was clean and modern with a very comfortable bed. The carvery in the evening and breakfast the following morning were great. The staff are very friendly and cannot do enough for you. I will be staying again next time I am in the area.
