We have just got back from a 3 night stay at this hotel and it was fantastic, there is nothing negative to say about it, when we arrived we were met by a friendly receptionist who showed us to our upgraded room with a four poster bed, a very comfortable bed, the bathroom was excellent and large with a deep roll top bath, everything was clean, fresh large towels every day. The restaurant was lovely and food was freshly made to order and piping hot, all staff were friendly. We will use again.

We came to the Dartmoor lodge hoping for a meal and to book a room within the next couple of weeks. Coming to the reception area the receptionist was on the phone to what sounded like another employee about the computer system, fair enough..but having stood waiting in front of her for nearly 10 mins without being acknowledged in any way then hearing her discuss the weather...we walked out and ended up going to the Dart bridge Inn over the bridge. Excellent meal with great customer services! Well recommended!

Just had a Carvery which was absolutely delicious, have been for the same many times and it never disappoints. Plenty of variety of meats and veg. Chef and staff very friendly, good atmosphere, and very busy, which is a good sign,

This was not a good experience at all. To be specific, the chicken and sweetcorn soup was over seasoned and lacked egg white. Two of the starters where fish (prawns and calamari) and were not well presented. The three others starters were unintentionally cold.

The main courses are best described as a selection of 'stews'. Beef and oyster sauce (beef stew), pork and vegetables (pork stew) and sweet and sour chicken (chicken stew). The spare ribs looked OK although I didn't sample them. The sour cabbage was not good and neither was the rice.

The sweet course consisted of a pineapple fritter which was fine and a portion of junket which was far too heavily laced with almond essence! This was served with tinned mandarins.

The service was average only. It is strongly suggested that if the staff are incapable of producing and serving authentic Chinese cuisine then try something else.

My husband and I have eaten at the Lodge a handful of times and 7 years ago we even had our wedding reception there (it was under a different ownership then). We've called in a few times for a Sunday Carvery and I have to say they are excellent and well worth the money. The restaurant has been full every time and I can see why. I'm a veggi and they do a really nice nut roast amongst other things. The portions are great and we always leave happy and very full.

We called in today and had lunch. I had the homemade pizza which came with a salad and chips and my husband had the burger, chips and salad. It was the best lunch we've had for ages. There was lots of it, it was well presented and it tasted really nice.

We're booked in for a Sunday carvery in a few weeks with our family and we can't wait to go back. Its really hard these days to find a good pub that does reasonably priced good food but this pub does it with ease. The staff were really friendly and welcoming.
