We arrived at the bolt hole to a lovely friendly welcome from harry who explained all about the apartment. Once we opened the door it was lovely very well decorated spotless clean plenty big enough for 2 peopl.the bolt hole was easy to find in a quite area but with fantastic views of the harbour. On arrival there was a bottle of milk biscuits tea etc with a card and bottle of wine for our anniversary which was a lovely gesture thank you very much. You are about 6mins from brixham harbour down hill advice to get taxi coming back £3.00ish. Brixham it’s self is lovely plenty of pubs cafes restaurants and shops. Will be going back next year and hope to book the bolthole if available
We arrived on Thursday which was our wedding anniversary to a lovely welcome with a card and wine and some rock, plus the essentials of milk tea coffee and sugar.. it's a dream of a place very clean and tidy and tastefully nautically decorated.
With parking space and lovely little decked area for nice days... we came home yesterday and could have stayed longer! The perfect place! We will definitely be returning to this little haven of peace and quiet. Would definitely recommend!
I booked for my daughter and son in law and they loved it and the owners. Thank you for looking after them so well.
Lovely, spotlessly clean, and nicely decorated apartment, in an ideal location. Very friendly and helpfull owners, who go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. Along with the gorgeous weather, it all made for the perfect weekend.
Self catering in Brixham with it's own parking space is quite hard to find. So for that reason alone The Bolthole is an ideal place to stay. The Bolthole provides an excellent view over Brixham harbour & the bay each morning. The accommodation is designed artistically like a small boat with walkway and themed inferior of a nautical flavour. The kitchen area is a small area off of the main room & there is a full bathroom. The only thing lacking is a conventional oven (there is a microwave & 2 hobs), and there is no DVD player (other places we've stayed at seem to have one at the moment).
The owners live next door, and are friendly and non intrusive and leave you to get on with your holiday.
We didn't need to use the car all week. The centre of Brixham is 5 mins walk away down steps or a slope. For exploring further, there is a half hourly ferry to Torquay or a frequent (every 10 mins) bus service to Paignton or Torquay. There is also a bus to Kingswear/Dartmouth.
What a find,The bolt hole is a real gem, everything you need, self contained home from home.Thersa and Harry were lovely leaving us to our own devices but on hand if we needed anything. They even got my wife a birthday card and bottle of wine, close to the centre of Brixham, one word of caution beware of cardiac hill, walk down but get a taxi back,it's not for the faint hearted.a great holiday in a great place
The Bolt Hole is exactly what it says on the tin. It is a spotlessly clean studio apartment within a quiet residential street only a short 5 minute walk down a very steep town path (with handrails) to the harbour. The decor is neutral and contemporary seaside themed.
The kitchen area is very compact but sufficient for a preparation of breakfast or snacks with fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster and sink. We didn't use it apart from making flasks, hot drinks and breakfast cereal as there is a plethora of eateries in the harbour and beyond and we were on holiday!!
The ensuite shower room is pristine and very modern. No toiletries provided or robes/slippers so remember to bring your own. Lots of lovely fluffy towels though. The bed is a comfortable standard double. There are lovely views of the sea from the tiny deck area just outside the French doors with a small bistro set to sit out on if you were inclined.
There is a sofa and a coffee table in the room and a Tv and iPod dock. The Free wifi is fast and reliable. There is parking immediately next to the small decked area of the accommodation, in the driveway of the house.
I would have given this 5 stars. However, it is a converted part of the landlords semi-detached house in a residential street That said, I couldn't fault it in any other way and, once we got our head around that we decided we would definitely consider staying there again as the accommodation, landlords and location were so good.
