At first you might think this an odd combination of place to eat and place to shop. But look with a discerning eye, ponder the nature of synergy, and it all makes perfect sense. As a place to eat - it is clean as a whistle, has an interesting menu based on local ingredients all cooked with a sense of care and attention. The staff are very enthusiastic, helpful and cheerful. We went on a cold November day and found a perfect antidote in the warmth of the welcome and the quality of the food. Hand dived scallops were chosen by my wife. All local, all fresh, and a proper number of them on the plate. Less adventurously, I chose the ham, poached eggs and fries. The ham was thickly cut, hot from the griddle and accompanied by a brace of eggs that had been neatly trimmed after being cooked to perfection. The fries were light, golden and very crispy. I'm afraid my wife stole some of them from my plate.
The bill was very reasonable indeed. I don't think the deli really sets out to be a restaurant - but it gives some who do a real run for their money.
So, visit Brixham - it's going up in the world, with a reals sense of living community. When you do, go to the deli, you won't be disappointed.
