We stayed here from 3rd August to 11th August in a silver caravan that at best was a good bronze, we usually go to Chesil beach, Weymouth and for the same price we get a much higher standard of caravan, (no stained carpets, heaters in all rooms) and entertainment. We thought the club room was very shabby the tables and chairs were long past their sell by date, the tables directly in front of chefs corner were never wiped clean during the course of the evening. The only good point is that if you sit outside you have a lovely view of Torquay. Having said this it was a quiet site to say how big it is but wont be going back.

Went on a family trip for 7 nights. Had a bronze chalet. They are not new but extremly clean and tidy. Everything spotless. Any issue we had was dealt with by reception in mintues. Didnt use the club house as we were out most days. The park is clean and well laid out and every member of staff that i spoke to whether in reception or maintenance was friendly, polite and very helpful. This is a great base to see devon. Would definatly visite the park again.

To the car machanic that has a workshop near the park, thank you for putting togther our broken Exhaust pip. You really saved our hoilday from being ruined. Thank you very much for being so nice and so very helpful.

Just returned from 7 nights in a gold / platinum van which we thoroughly enjoyed. We paid the extra for a 2013 van and it was is excellent condition. Next time we will probably take along a few of our own knives, tin opener, larger chopping board etc as the ones provided were not the greatest, however we have done the same at centre parcs for a lodge at double the price. The beds were fine, though if it was hotter I imagine the plastic mattress would be a bit of a pain, though I can understand why these are provided.

The staff were all friendly and you can't fault the entertainment team of Ben, Ness and Roxxie. They were always full of enthusiasm and made the holiday for he kids.

The overall entertainment is what to be expected but in that it was of a high standard and delivered well. Bingo was always very popular and the kids enjoyed the music version as well a having their own books and prizes.

Chefs corner made good value short order food and we ate in the club house on 2 nights. The cheesy chilli chips were particularly good and so were the pizzas.

The pool was good and we even swam in the rain dashing back to the van to get changed as opposed to using the limited changing rooms at the pool. One thing of note and I didn't flag it up was the steps up to the slide need some sort of anti slip adding. As another reviewer stated, our kids also ended up with a few additional bruises to their shins.

We didn't play the golf, but looked like it could do with ripping up and starting again. The play area could do with some investment and we wre lucky to be close to the trim trail which the kids did play on everyday.

The park is definitely not a place to spend your days, but a good base camp with evening entertainment for the kids.

I would say that the amenities could be added to or enhanced, but it is what it is and the basics are covered.

Overall, excellent first van and visit, will be taking advantage of booking next year for £25 deposit. We also went to Paignton, Dartmouth by train, woodlands (week ticket) and crabbing in Brixham, which as stated made south bay a great base camp.

Don't be put off my some of the poorer reviews, it is what you make of it, but we had an excellent as new van, which of course made things better for us.

Room Tip: We were in H field next to trim trail and flat open space for playing football.

Thank you very much for leaving us such a fantastic 5 star review, we really appreciate it. Your comments have been passed on to all departments.

Once again our entertainments team have been singled out for extra praise and there is no doubt that they deserve it. They are all doing a brilliant job this year and work extremely hard to ensure everyone has a great holiday.

I sometimes wonder who writes the poor reviews about such a lovely park but perhaps, more importantly, why. When we try to contact the writers to discover what exactly went wrong with their holiday, as you can imagine, we get no reply.

We look forward to welcoming you again very soon.

Spent four nights here from 15th July. Been to other John Fowler sites but never to this one before. We'd booked a Gold caravan, but could hardly believe it when we opened the door. The caravan was virtually new. Everything was spotlessly clean and we even had an on-suite bathroom. If it hadn't been for the fact that the saucepans showed signs of previous use, we would have thought we were the first ones ever to use this caravan.
The whole site is clean and well laid out and every member of staff that we spoke to whether in reception, maintenance or on the entertainment side, were friendly, polite, and genuinely seemed to want to help in any way they could.
The park is situated outside of town but is only a short walk (and quite a few steps) down to St Mary's beach or you can catch a bus from the park to Brixham harbour and (if you want) a ferry to Torquay (£1 each way).
An Excellent holiday and we will certainly be returning next year.

1st time with fowlers after 6 hour drive arrived at location great that is the only time ill mention great. Got keys to caravan on entering was met by a carpet that looked like it had never seen a Hoover the cooker was filthy had the last occupants food encrusted on to it the gas grill did not work dead flies on bottom of furniture and on walls wall paper peeled off to leave a big patch on the wall in bedroom inch thick dust on head boards in bedroom 2nd day there had a strong burning smell at night to find out fan in bathroom overheating and getting dangerously hot had get maintenance out 2nd time along with gas cooker was asked to get house keeping out but I'm not wasting my holiday waiting for a cleaner who should of done the job 1st time it's a shame as site is in a good location entertainment well just cheep karaoke singers was entertaining as we couldn't stop laughing at how bad and cheesy they were. But it was the caravan that spoilt it for us I brought my son and step kids as this was 12 months of my step kids loosing there dad and even the kids would eat or drink in the caravan from the state of it and ruined my holiday with John fowlers and any chance of re-booking cause of the state of the caravan.

It was such a shame to read your remarks regarding your stay at our holiday park. There are a number of serious items in your review that need to be investigated.

It is always so difficult to deal with the issues after you have returned home, however, I will be contacting through the Tripadvisor messaging service to discover precisely where you where staying and see what we can do to help.

Myself, M-I-L and three daughters came and stayed for four nights last week. Neither of us had ever stayed on a holiday park so we had no idea of what to expect. Having read a few reviews before we left me slightly concerned, however, I know that sometimes people have incredibly high expectations (me included!)

We arrived and the lady on reception was incredibly friendly, explained where the caravan was and where the pool, club, shop etc were located. We got to the caravan and were absolutely delighted with it (was a silver). I was initially concerned with the fridge so went to reception and they immediately sent Steve out who brought a replacement and also brought an extra chair for us.

Unpacking commenced and we went straight to the pool where we were greeted by the friendliest of people Rob. He was lovely and although he said that the pool would be closing in 30 minutes he actually kept it open for us for over an hour. We went to the pool everyday for at least 6 hours (my daughters love swimming!), Rob was always incredibly friendly and really knowledgeable about the local area, suggesting good restaurants and using a taxi into Brixham rather than driving.

Foxy Club staff were wonderful with all the children. The girls loved joining in the mornings and also going along at night to the club. Stripey Ness and Stripey Ben are very much missed by the girls! Where the three of them found their energy and smiles from I do not know. In fact all the members of staff from the lovely lady in the shop to the lovely bar lady who always remembered what we were drinking were incredibly friendly.

We will definitely be back and am already talking to two friends about us all going together.

Spent a week here from 20 july in platinum caravan, excellent location on the park and a very good and clean van. Entertainment staff were brilliant with the kids. The adult themed shows were also very good. A short distance from Brixham harbour where you can get a ferry to Torquay or paignton at very reasonable prices.
