A large group of us went from church for a meal in this lovely pub. We cannot fault the meal at all - excellent value, piping hot, very tasty, fresh vegetables and all served very promptly, which isn't easy with a large group. The staff were all very attentive, and even gave us a bottle of wine towards our raffle. The only gripe I have is that one of the waitresses was continually chewing gum.

If you want good pub food at a reasonable price, this is the place.
Food came out very hot. Recommend beef and ale pie and the fish pie. Nice house wine. Lovely olde worlde.

Went for the Steak Night which has been reviewed as being recommended. Friendly welcome which was somewhat marred by the ale not being as good as it should. Speedy delivery of the steaks, the presentation of which was first class. Once into the steak it was more gristly that it should have been - right on the border of "Is it bad enough to send it back or bearable to continue"? As the staff were so nice I decided to continue. My partner's was very fatty and she felt the same as I and continued. So disappointed and I hope for anyone else that this was a one off. The cynic in me asks if the steaks were bought in especially cheap (For Steak Night) hence the below standard offering? Hope not. Pity really as the atmosphere is nice and relaxing in this old traditional pub.

We were told this pub was dog friendly ?, its not even human friendly we turned up at 8.30 pm after going out of our way to find this reccommended food pub only to be turned away as they were closing (8.30 pm) , the four of us plus dog were very dissappointed to say the least , passing by several times during the week that we stayed we noticed the doors were always closed so perhaps they only open when there is a blue moon lol, waste of time sorry to say.

We patronised this excellent pub restaurant because we had read that it was a dog friendly establishment and an dog friendly it certainly was. Our little jack russell terrier was welcomed with a bowl of water and a dog biscuit while we enjoyed selections from their excellent menu. The service was impeccable and while there could be a bit of a wait for for our meals to arrive the food was obviously freshly cooked to order. The first evening that we ate there we had a curry and it was the best curry that I have eaten outside an Asian restaurant
