“Good value but book early to get room with a view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2013

We wentfor 6 days in late June and I didn't book until early April when all the rooms with views had gone. We were in room 3 which is described as a small double and has views of a courtyard. To be absolutely honest the room is a very small double and the wash basin cannot fit in the ensuite so stands in the corner of the room, There is not much of a courtyard to view either, more a general outside area. That said the ensuite, although tiny, was absolutely spotless and looked newly fitted and tiled and the bed was nice and comfortable. Breakfast was nicely presented and beautifully cooked each day. We arrived early at 10.00 am, by prior arrangement and although our room was not ready for a few more hours, we were able to drop off our luggage which was taken up to our room for us. I would visit again but only if I booked early enough to get a larger room and enjoy the great views.

If you can cope with the many steps up from the harbourside to the front door, and then the additional steps up to the rooms, especially those on the second and third floors, then this is an excellent place to stay in Brixham. The rooms are clean and comfortable with modern en-suite facilities. The breakfasts are excellent and Stuart and Steve (the owners) are most obliging and helpful. We would certainly stay there again provided we could get one of the harbour view rooms on the first floor.
An added attraction for us was the Maritime Inn - a 'must-visit' bar which is just a couple of doors away.

Thank you Stuart and Steve for making our holiday so special. Harbour View is a lovely B&B, very comfortable en-suite rooms, and scrummy breakfast, any combination of the menu you like. The guys are very helpful on the surrounding area. The views of the harbour and all its activity are fabulous. Lots to do and see in Brixham, we ran out of time to do all the things we wanted to do so I guess a return visit is a must!! Thank you again to you all!!

Recommend The Lytehouse Tapas Bar in Fore Street for dinner, gorgeous food. We were disappointed with the Poop Deck restaurant though which had come highly recommended, the food was good but the service was appalling. Brixham deli at the start of Fore Street does excellent take away sandwiches etc for picnics!

Berry Head and Fishcombe Bay fabulous walks, very hilly, tones up the muscles!

Room Tip: Narrow staircase to rooms, but the staff will always help with luggage etc!

We stayed 3 nights room 9 top of the property .....excellent views with excellent staff....very clean and very friendly and great breakfast in the morning....the only thing missing at breakfast time was a little back round music...... maybe tuned in to the local radio station for weather reports , local news, etc.........when we visit Brixham again we will most certainly stay at this B/B....

Room Tip: Ask for room with harbour view......

Stayed for two nights, very clean, excellent views from room no 7, nothing was too much trouble, fresh flowers on the breakfast table, brilliant breakfast cooked to perfection, very friendly & efficient. They even noticed we had a bottle of wine in the room so provided wine glasses without us asking. All the little things make such a big difference. Decor very modern & tasteful. Recommend The Sprat & Mackerel and The Old Market Place for eating. Visit Torquay on ferry for £1, also walk to Berry Head recommended.

Room Tip: No pool or gym

During a recent trip to England to visit friends and family (I hadn't been back for 17 years), I promised myself a three-day 'break' in Devon, scene of many happy times in my younger days. I picked Brixham for its proximity to remembered haunts, and the 'Harbour View' for its advertised views and amenities.
It was everything the other reviews and publicity promised - tidy, clean and pleasant rooms, great hospitality, and excellent location. And yes, the view was fabulous - I loved watching the light change over the early mornings and evenings.
Stuart and Steve were charming hosts, and accommodated my gluten-free requests without difficulty. Their suggestions for sites and cafes to visit in town were spot-on.
Next visit to the UK - I'll be going back to the Harbour View for sure. Thanks guys!
