Inner and outer harbors filled with fishing boats and replica of Sir Francis Drake's ship, The Golden Hind. Fascinated by the tide going in and out and the seagulls.

The harbour has many boats and of many standards. Smart, Working type and interesting. Good place for photographic and painted pictures. Do visit the Brixham Artists Studio. it is on the right on the harbour wall

An historic and charismatic ever changing scene . The walkway from the inner harbour to the Breakwater beach is a must . Look out for the wonderful quirky gardens created by the volunteers of Pride of Brixham. Definitely the best end of Torbay !

Second visit in the10 years, the harbour is quaint but a working harbour with plenty of fishing trips and a quayful of average gift shops and cafes, pubs but the atmosphere is good and is picture perfect. The highlight was to board the replica of the golden hind which is worth every penny and is fascinating to see how people lived in such a confined space. My previous visit the orange order were holding a thanksgiving service at the statue of William of orange had landed which coincided with a remembrance parade, unfortunately outside the amusement arcade is a squalking chicken lucky dip machine which some kid put 20p in at the same time when the same2 minutes silence began -one very embarrassed parent

We stayed near Brixham for two weeks in September and had some of the best weather of this disappointing Summer.

The walk around the harbour is wonderful. Go round to the side opposite to the shops and then walk towards the groyne built for the D Day Landings. You can walk along this to the small lighthouse at the end. We watched a young fisherman tied up to a floating platform unloading his catch - which looked like plaice - in total fascination.

Continue walking along the beach - past the beach cafe - and then climb some steps onto the road. Soon you will come to another path which goes downwards towards the sea. You will then see to a lovely open air swimming pool.

We sat on a seat above it and looked across the bay to Torquay. What a perfect afternoon. The sun, the sea and a totally stunning view. The very best of England.

Whilst visiting Brixham we used the ferry across to Torquay several times. It cost just £1 each way - a totally unsustainable price. Apparently two local ferry companies are in bitter competition. When one wins the prices will surely rocket !
