“food ok, service very poor”
Reviewed August 25, 2014

We thought we would end our day on the beach by having a meal at the Braunton inn. The building looks wonderful so we hoping for good things when we got in.

We were 4 families so a big group of 15 and we asked if this was Ok, and it was. There were plenty of tables free so we split into families and sat on separate tables and then ordered separately.

We ordered starters and a main meal.

The starters came but then some of the mains starting to come aswell, so it was not very well organised, also some of us ordered potatoes and not chips with our meals and when we told the waitress she did not do anything about it

We also had to complain about the food - one of the starters did not match what it said on the menu, (the waitress just shrugged when we told her)and worst of all, one of the pies we ordered had a hair in it. We had to take it back and then speak to the manager who quickly did resolve it and we had a new pie.

It is a real shame as the place itself is lovely, but we did not go back because of the service and food

“What a disaster!”
Reviewed August 24, 2014

My husband and I don't manage to get out without the children often and as we had been here before and had a good meal we thought we'd go again. What a mistake! Before leaving home we phoned to make reservation and was told no need, loads of tables, when we got there, no tables!! We waited outside for a table until after our starters, half the starter was missing and we had to go and chase it up, when it did arrive it was stale! The main course was even worse. When my husband ordered he made sure that the seasonal veg was not peas as they make him sick, he was assured that it was carrots and cabbage, when the meal eventually arrived he had peas on his plate! When I asked the waitress about it she replied 'what do you want me to do about it?', what she did do was hust remove the veg altogether, no apology. I had a burger, well, it might have been a burger in a previous life, it was so over cooked it was practically impossible to eat, there was hardly any lettuce or tomatoes in it so I sent it back, well, I took it back as I got fed up waiting for a waitress! When it came back it did indeed have lettuce but they had 'freshened' up the burger!!! The burger was now like concrete! Needless to say, we went to the manager for a moan! He told us that they had been very busy tonight! No excuse mate!!! Get your restaurant organised, get your waitresses some lessons in manners, teach your chefs how to cook and stop making excuses!!!!!!!! We did get a couple very small pieces of cheesecake as an apology, that wasn't good either, glad we didn't pay for it!!!
Avoid people! There's Burgerking down the road that do much better burgers!!!!

“Great food”
Reviewed August 22, 2014 via mobile

We arrived without booking and were seated quickly. We chose the non-pub style food, and it was truly amazing. The lamb fell of the bone and the pork, sweet potato and black pudding combined perfectly together.

“A very pleasant meal”
Reviewed August 22, 2014

We visited this restaurant / pub twice in a matter of days. Beautiful location, the menu is limited but nicely presented, tasty food. On our first visit there were no tables free and the manager went out of his way to help find somewhere for us to eat. The staff were all very well trained and friendly. I highly recommend the fish pie, best I've had!! My son would like a burger on the child's menu! Will visit again when we are next in the area.

Pulled over for a lunch, dogs outside only which is fine, beautiful views, lovely food. Kept passing on the way to the beach, glad we pulled over. Worth a visit.
