We went to the Williams Arms on recommendation from the Tarka Trail bike hire pamphlet.

Have to say it was A GREAT CHOICE. On arrival, bar was very busy but we were directed into a very quiet back bar by a very pleasant young barman. All staff were pleasant, carvery had turkey, beef and pork. All nicely cooked meats and a fair portion was presented on a VERY HOT PLATE !!! Beware !!! Still, I'm not complaining because it kept the food very warm until we finished our very substantial meal. No room for sweets - so I cannot comment on those!

Nice staff - Nice food - Nice drink - Nice location - Nice price.......what's NOT to like !!

We visited twice in the past week. The first visit was early evening when they were relatively quiet. On this occasion the food was excellent and would easily have earnt 5 stars. However on the second occasion the food was just not as good, although there was nothing specifically wrong with it,which would suggest they struggle when it is busy as it was during the peak Friday evening rush. On both occasions the staff were friendly and helpful with food being served in a reasonable timeframe.

Ok...those of you viewing these reviews may notice a bit of a trend. However, there is a good reason for this. OMG, this place does the BEST carvery I've ever had. More vegetables thank you can imagine and they do not scrimp on the meat (this is no Toby wafer thin slicing). All of the food looks terrific and although I was a good boy and said a reluctant no to the puddings - the ones I saw coming out looked great.
The staff was pretty attentive but this place can get busy so do think about booking a taxable - I promise it will be worth it
