We regularly stay in and around Braunton so we can use Saunton Sands beach as its excellent for boggie boarding. We said we wanted to stay at the sands hotel and this year we were lucky enough to be able to.

We thought the bedroom was very average for a 4* hotel but the view the hotel has and the attentive staff more than made up for the tiredness of the bedroom decor.

We ate in the terrace restaurant, we had to pay extra for this more relaxed way of dining but we were more than happy with the food and service. By eating this way you can almost guarantee a window table, which can not be said if you go into the formal dining room.

The outside swimming pool was in need of attention, some tiles missing around the inside edge made it look a little scruffy and some of the loungers were broken, the backs couldn't be raised up into a sitting up position.

Would these issues stop me booking again - NO. We had a lovely time in a relaxed atmosphere with excellent (if not a little steep) access to the beach. We will return in 2014.

We booked this as a final family holiday with my sick father, sadly he did not make it on the trip this summer, however the hotel handled the cancelation of his room smoothly, and we decided to make the most of things.
What a setting, you would be hard pressed to beat the view from the terrace anywhere in England. The room though not large was nice and the staff cleaning the rooms, were very helpful and understanding.
The swimming pools are both nice and the beach, with nearby Sands Restaurant made for an easy change of scene. The entertainment was great for young children and Antonia did a good job in the kids club, although a more airy room would be better for kids.
The food in the hotel was excellent and service generally good, especially Marco and the older chap who looked like a wizard ! The two times we had bad service, were both over cream teas, so this could be falling into a void of responsibility.
The tennis coach was nice and not paying extra is great, I also played a round of golf down the road at the local golf course. All in all the holiday was a great success.
Many Thanks

I have been staying at Saunton Sands for many years and, having just returned from a one week break, can honestly say that this rates amongst the best. The restaurant, which has sometimes been disappointing in the past, has much improved and all the guests in our party were very impressed with the quality and choice of the food served. The cleanliness of the hotel was first class and the staff warm, friendly and eager to please. In my opinion this is a wonderful place for a family holiday with lots of activities for both good weather and bad.It is also a romantic venue for just two with panoramic views and beautiful sunsets. What more could you want from a holiday...

Room Tip: Sea View a must

ANOTHER FANTASTIC HOLIDAY AND 60TH BIRTHDAY PARTY

Just returned home after another fantastic holiday at Saunton Sands Hotel. The Hotel excels year on year, but this year the food both in the restaurant and the Terrace Lounge was truly outstanding.
Nothing was too much trouble, the staff always willing to help you.
With fantastic views over the beach and sand dunes, lovely walks along miles of beach truly spectacular.
On this holiday we booked a 60th Birthday party for 50 people which was just awesome, words could not explain how great it was. The party decorations, the food and entertainment, just the perfect place to have a very special party.
A big thank you Mr Brend, to you and your staff for such an amazing time. Cant wait till our next holiday.

Room Tip: Sea facing to enjoy those wonderful views.

In summary: you can't top the location; stunning views; all the staff were helpful, friendly and cheerful...I mean ALL the staff... The food was fantastic and the entertainment was brilliant (I normally loathe this type of thing). Especially the village fete night!!! I know this about the hotel but the beach is the best beach in Devon (as far as I am concerned...and I live here). Great beginner surf, clean and safe. Amazing to run on.great beach facilities. Holiday here!!!!!

Room Tip: Don't choose ground floor as the entertainment/ music if directly below you!

I have never wrote a review before about this hotel as I have always felt that it is that good it reputation and returning customers surpasses itself. And to be truthful never told anyone how good this hotel really is as it’s my little bit of heaven. But I now feel that I should share it with the world. If you are a high city slicker or a family just looking for a luxury break then this hotel is for you. Any stress leaves you at the front door on arrival. No need to either consider that the holiday aboard was even considered, waiting around at the airport when this is a 3 hour 30 minute journey from London door to door. This Hotel is Ideal for a long week or just a week of just relaxing. With the added beauty of everything that London has to offer from beauty treatments to an amazing cocktail list and exceptional food sourced from local produce.

The hotel is not your normal sunny seaside front hotel with a row of gift shops and greasy spoons just outside your front door that would put most people off holidaying in the UK. It is surrounded by an incredible sandy beech that stretches for miles and beautiful coastal scenery. But what makes this hotel exceptional from the rest it has atmosphere that some of the other luxury hotels cannot compete with. If the weather is good you could be anywhere in the world. Children can feel free.

The staff are very pleasant and polite and extremely welcoming and will attend to your very whim. The facilities at the hotel keep those of the more athletic type content and happy from tennis, squash, Golf, coastal walks, surfing and horse riding. As well as an indoor and outdoor pool this has a sensible depth for children to swim in. The sea has a gradual decline which is ideal for children.
The hotel offer superb amenities for the smaller children, fantastic playroom area, buggy hire, cot beds and babysitting facilities, which we used on several occasions. The Laundry room was often helpful with cleaning of the children’s clothes. Feeding the children is simple with a great children’s menu as well as jars of baby food, leaving enough room in the boot of the car for your favorite dress to be packed for a romantic dinner for two while the children are well cared for.

Entertainment at the hotel is very well organised and good all round family fun, evening entertainment doesn't start till late but you are on holiday. Make sure if you have smaller children to take a peep at Captains Coconut bubble show, you will be amazed. It’s a must.
Even the teenagers are catered for from surf lessons, beauty make over day, and the sands cafe that was voted one of the top ten places to be seen at in a London magazine. A great place to people watch or just to hang out. Food is good , breakfast a must and the evening dinning casual, if you’re a little feed up of dressing up to eat in the main hotel restaurant.

This hotel offers the best of both worlds you can either choose from an apartment accommodation to a luxury sea facing room. For families they offer a good range of accommodation. You would be mad not to consider this hotel. Good all round family fun will a little bit for heaven added in. My children cried when we left.

I personally can’t wait to return. We return to this hotel year after year and cannot fault this hotel. If you are considering a Christmas break and fed up with cooking the turkey. Book now to avoid disappointment it’s not just great is magical and you will not be disappointed. Don’t forget to look out for Father Christmas and enjoy your favorite tipple while the hotel looks after the rest, highly recommend.

Well back to the rat race for now, but thank you to management and staff at Saunton Sands Hotel for making myself and my family so welcome.

Room Tip: If you have a young family you may wish to consider an apartment as all facilities are there kitche...

Just returned from a fantastic one week holiday at The Saunton Sands Hotel. With fine weather there really is no point going abroad because this hotel has everything; a friendly welcome on arrival, spotlessly clean and well appointed rooms, excellent food, great facilities and what must be one of the best views in the UK. Highly recommended!
